Default Mac, Windows, Linux, Unix or Other?

I always have it in my head that NT/NFs are more inclined to use a Mac. I can't figure out why in the world somebody would choose a PC these days honestly. I used Window$ for years before switching to Linux for 3 years and finally Macs exclusively for the past 2.

NT and Windows for me. I don't use Macs for a plethora of reasons.

I have a laptop with Vista, Desktop with XP for games, and I manage the Windows SBS 2003 at the shop I work at.

i use windows because a) i have what i takes to tame it and b) i want to use decent compatible evolved software, not that horrible pretentious papier-mache' crap that is available for linux. i wouldn't mind a hardware other than PC, if it were affordable. in the future WINE or the like might be supported by cpu power and diskspeed sufficiently ... right now not even firefox is sufficiently supported by hardware (typical fragmented 500GB harddrive) without using a ramdisk.

i use XP and i will use windows 7

I use Windows and Mac, my cousin tried to get me into Linux but I never got around to trying it out, I just didn't see the point. I work with photoshop and do video editing and things like that, so macs are far superior, but when you are talking about for gaming, obviously windows is better. So it depends on what you are doing I guess. I mean, I do the editing and stuff on my Mac, and I built a gaming rig running Windows.

My main computer is a Macbook Pro. I use it mostly for internet, iTunes, recording music, and photo editing. OS X has made me very lazy.

Then I have a desktop with Windows 2000 on it. It's sole purpose in life is to play games. It performs well and is custom built. I loaded Windows 2000 on it because that's all I had at the time. But I try to keep it off the interweb. I don't like Windows very much because I think it's a whore that doesn't know how to use a condom properly.

And I have an older version on Ubuntu around here somewhere. It's on an old Dell Latitude. It's purpose is to amuse me with it's Linuxy ways. It used to be my main computer before I got my Mac.

If we really want to get into the nitty grity I have an old desktop that runs Windows 3.11 for Workgroups. It's kinda like a time capsule from my childhood. Every once in a while I'll boot it to read old documents or play silly games.

I use Windows Vista on my newest computer to get the most out of new applications, but on my older ones I prefer Linux. Actually, I prefer Linux overall, but there are too many applications I want to use that require Windows... so I use it.

Note that I never specifically installed Vista, the computer came with it and I found it easier to just disable all the features I didn't like than try to install XP over it. I'm hardly a Vista fan.

Debian and Ubuntu Linux.. been using Linux for many a year now. Scripting pain-in-the-ass procedures and hooking into a music, file, and mail server rules. Wine and Virtualbox cover most of my Windows-based needs, and those don't come up very often at all.

I once bought a laptop with Vista and sold it because I couldn't get around the fact that I couldn't get Vista to do what I wanted it to do and there were no drivers for it under XP. It might work for some, but.. yeah, not for me.

Mac OS is probably the only OS I know pretty much nothing about

I use Vista. My nerd friends hate me.

How true. My MacBook Pro cost me an arm and a leg! (My dad helped me buy it by selling two weeks of his vacation. What a sweetheart.)
