    - four distinct season, never too cold though (the avg temperature in the coldest month is around 5, in may it's around 20, in july 25, october 16), dynamic weather (there's rarely two overcast days in a row, or 2 extremely dry sunny days in a row)
    - both the beach and the mountains are very near, half an hour drive
    - impressive scenery if you know the right places where to go, esp in the nearby hills (20 mins drive?)
    - relatively cheap in comparison to many places in the US (although not cheap by italian standard)
    - great food in comparison to everywhere else I've been in the world

I like where I live because a lot of people of eastern ethnicity that have emigrated here, so you have some interesting diversity. Also, it's not a very values/religion-based culture.. so there's a freedom in the air. I live in a small village, so you know most people, and it's very very safe. It's not the suburbs, and it's not the city.. it's just a village. Everything is within walking distance.

The weather is great.. you're tucked in between a coastal hill and the ocean, so you feel like you're wrapped up in someone's arms.

I love living where I do, for the beautiful Dorset coastline. It's a World Heritage area for good reason... (here's an excuse for some of my photos )

    for the sunsets :

    the prehistoric sites

    the castles

    the Spring flowers

    and so many other reasons

Beautiful I want to visit, when not followed by fog and rain.

Because when the authorities come-a-knockin to "politely"ask me to fix the place up, i can tell em that i'm waiting for those darn kids to spraypaint my house before i repaint it.
everyone uses every function about evenly. take NE for example. if there are those who don't use it much, then why are there such massive amounts of people constantly flowing through Wallmart with 20 items or less?

Colonel Sanders, lol, it's like free advertising for KFC everywhere. KFC doesn't taste as good anymore with the canola in the chicken not peanut oil.

What matsuri's do you recommend attending? MORE importantly, what times of the year do you think is best for travel there? To mayhap see many things, but not be SO overcrowded that I can't get anywhere.
July would be a nice time to visit. The rainy season is coming to an end. It's hot but there is a lot to see and do.
It can get busy towards the end of July because the school summer holidays start but it's most busy New Years. Unless you have family and friends to visit I wouldn't come then. It's expensive and crowded everywhere.

I would go to the Gion Matsuri in Kyoto. It's in July. I think there was 500,000 people at the festival the time I went. We didn't have any trouble getting around though.
