Default I have a FREE PLANE TICKET where should I go?

I got bumped off a flight and US airways gave me a free round trip ticket to anywhere in the continental US. (I wanted to go to Hawaii and spend as much of their fuel as possible, but that's not allowed. )

There are restrictions, but I'll just keep it simple and say anywhere in the US.

    So where should I go?

    Me:
    I'm from DC.
    20.
    Male.
    Trouble maker?
    Adventurous.
Outdoorsy (hiking is fun), but parties are ok too. Note age.
    Budget minded (read: cheap)

    One plan:

Go to San Diego. SD is nice I hear. Then get on down to Baja California. $10 to Tijuana, then head south and tour around. Beaches?

Pros: Baja california is beautiful. I get to go to Mexico. Hotels/hostels are cheaper south of the border. It's warm. Spring Break.

Cons: spring break season? Hotels might be packed. Tourist hell?

Any comments on the above idea?

Where would you go if you were me? If you were you?

I would definitely choose a place you probably wouldn't buy a plane ticket to normally.. Like, on the west coast if you're from the east coast. See the grand canyon, go to Vegas if you haven't been, etc. Just a place that's normally too far to go money-wise, I'd say.

There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first.

Grand canyon was a suggestion by others I know.

If went to SD for a week or more, I could made day trips out to Las Vegas. It's an idea...but not all that budget friendly. I'll put a check by "Maybe".

I've never been to the West coast at all.

Yeah I'm stoked, it's a pretty cool opportunity. I'm out of school, so I don't have any obligations elsewhere either.

That's why Baja sounds like a good bet.

    I want to be here:

I kinda want to go to the South west. Rust belt. Warm.

But Vermont isn't out of the question (I have friends there).

    Anything!

I might avoid Mexico, for obvious reasons...

I do suggest that you come down here to San Diego though . It's definitely an awesome city. Plus Los Angeles is just 2~3 hours drive away.
