    Default I'm leaving.

I haven't been that active lately, but anyhow, now I'm going totally off the grid, so I thought I'd say bye bye to you all. (Sorry if this is wrong forum for this)

I got this chance to go shoot a travel program for tv. Can't pass an opportunity like that. We'll go through Asia with couple of old cars. Russia, Kazakhstan, Kirghistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, China, Japan. This is a student project really, but I'm pretty sure it will be sold at least here in Finland. I'll be gone for six months, we will leave in April.

If anyone knows anything about traveling in those countries, I'd be interested.

Anyways, it's been nice, I really like this forum. I hope I remember the url when I come back And I hope there are some familiar faces left. Keep up the good spirit here, and kill the evil trolls See you guys.

I don't blame you, that sounds like a pretty exciting long-term project. Hope things go well.

Hey, good for you man. You've always been one of the few members here who I can relate to easily. Sad to see you go, but happy for you nonetheless.

Make sure you have your traveling papers in comprehensive order. It might help to alert local authorities as to your intent, to avoid potential confusion of any sort. Make sure you identify the exact whereabouts of your consulate while traveling / make it a policy to check-in with them intermittently (as well as your family/friends).

Learn key phrases in each country ("I'm lost"; "I need help"; "I need to speak to a lawyer", etc.).

Take extra money. Pack extra gear. Have contingency plans at the ready.

Not trying to scare you, it's just better to be prepared in unfamiliar territory. Working to reduce potential obstacles beforehand should make the experience that much more enjoyable for you.

    Have fun!

Aww... at least now that I've read it, you're leaving for good reasons. In that case I wish you the best! And I hope you'll come back at the end of it!
