Well, you know, that goes without saying.

I think what really does it in is the unique personality types finding other people who are just like them on the board. I spent all my growing up years in a family of S's (out of 10 immediate family members I have so far typed zero N's)

It's amazingly weird to come here and have ENFP's saying exactly what I've always felt but never knew anyone else felt. It's not at all that I don't like "s" - my best friend for years and years (step sister) is ISTJ. It's that I've had a lot of S exposure already, I'm amazed by the N.

So if I would say that "s" isn't deep or I'm not really into "s" I'm really saying "Wow, these other N's are as weird as me!"

I don't have a negative perception of Sensing types.
There are just people who rock and people who suck.
However, I wonder how many iNtuitives on this forum are actually Sensors or are iNtuitives really just more attracted to personality typing.

I was the only N in my fambily too.
I have to be honest, there are quite a few negative stereotypes floating out even for the commonly represented types. My personal favourite is that INFP's are selfishly indulgent of their feelings, with no capacity for stringing a single logical thought together.
I can totally understand why the less represented types feel intimidated, and unwelcome.
Truth be told, I came very close to leaving, and stopped posting for a while, because of some of the negativity here. The reason I'm still here is basically I calmed down from my temper, and I do enjoy some of the more intellectual discourse here.
And no, I don't think I'm a great representative of my type, but some of why I'm here is maybe understand some of the psychological underpinnings of my reactions to other people.

I have heard (sorry no source) that the internet as a whole tends to be an intuitives playground.

Only one person here maintains that position from what I've seen. True, it doesn't help that he seems to be so admired... I've almost quit myself for the same reason.

That's the hard thing, if you witness this as a newbie, you just don't feel comfortable reaching out to others on the board, so you can get a better feel for the board.

I too have found this attitude perplexing.

My awareness for other's feelings makes it practically impossible to be self-indulgent to my own.

And I believe my verbal and written communications to be cogent; I work in a technical field and use my logical brain every day.

I too have wondered the same. Anyone with a predilection for stereotyping would seem to be in opposition to the type.

That's not necessarily true. Like for myself, an inveterate Extrovert. I was pumped to find new people to talk to online, even though I was not nearly so familiar about MBTI when I arrived. I liked that everything was up for discussion here.
Who wants to try a bottle of merc's "Extroversion Olive Oil?"
