    Default A question about twins.

So, I'm a twin and know a couple of other sets of twins and I was curious to know whether others have noticed that in twin pairings there's usually only one letter difference (though I know this means very little to the cognitive functions). My twin brother is an INFP. My cousins are an ENTJ and an ENTP. My aunts are an ISFP and an INFP.

I have also noticed that in twins the difference often balances out (eg. I'm a very introverted extrovert and my twin brother is an extroverted introvert).
PinkPiranha appears to be an ENFJ with seriously high P capabilities.

Has anyone else noticed anything similar? Please, opinions on my hypothesis!

My mom is an ENFP and her twin sister is an INFP.

    Wife - ENFJ
    Twin Bro - ENTJ

    Interesting premise.

I know an INTJ and an INTP set and an ESFJ and ISFJ set. This is funny.

I think it's about the way they deal with interaction and responsabilities (the I\E P\J )
There's statistically very little chance that those two things will perfectly balance, so one will progressively develop one function as the other follows the other path.

I think this is a pretty common characteristic (at least anecdotally) among identical twins. I've known sets of ENTP/INTP and ENTJ/ENTP too.

I don't think this holds up nearly as well among fraternal twins (not unexpectedly, really). I have a twin sister, and we're different in at least 3 of the 4 characteristics.

Your theory is quite possibly correct.

My aunts are twins... one is ESFP, the other is ENFx.

Ooooh! Ooooh! Finally something that might disprove my theory! What type is your twin sister? Are you complementary or opposing types? How did you find your types affecting your relationship as twins?

Wow this is really interesting! I wish I knew twins who were typed, or knew more twins in general- this is pretty cool.

Do you think that it may follow family members, too, who may be close in age or just close relationship-wise?

I just wonder because my two half brothers are 2 years apart from each other. The older one is an ENTP, the younger is an ESTP.

I don't count myself as we don't share the same father and we are also 8 and 10 years apart in age.
What about spouses? [the sort who get along almost insanely well?]
Don't hate me because you're beautiful.

I'm not exactly sure - my best guess would be ESFJ. So we're pretty different that way. It's hard for me to say how type might have affected our relationship - we're both pretty easy to get along with, and in a lot of ways neither of us particularly came into our own until we moved out on our own - when we stopped seeing each other so often. Nowadays, on the rare occasion that we see each other, our relationship's pretty good, but we're almost opposites in what we like doing, etc.
