After losing the Ashes, the Bledisloe and the Trinations all in the same weekend, I'm hereby renouncing my Australianity. I'm now in the market for a new nationality. South Africa, New Zealand and England are obviously out of the question, but otherwise I'm open to suggestions.

    Is Easter Island a nation?

I don't know why you're so upset over the Bledisloe Cup. You've only had it 12 times since 1931.

Is it that by its indefiniteness it shadows forth the heartless voids and immensities of the universe, and thus stabs us from behind with the thought of annihilation, when beholding the white depths of the milky way?

The Aussie dollar is moving up to parity with the World's Reserve Currency.

And the Governor of the Reserve Bank of China has called on the US dollar to be replaced as the World's Reserve Currency.

And of course the World's Reserve Currency is the lynchpin of global mercantilism.

And whoever owns and controls the Reserve Currency of the World effectively controls the world.

And President Nixon said that the US dollar is ours but is your problem. And the Governor of the Reserve Bank of China full well knows this.

Fortunately there is no alternative to the US dollar as the World's Reserve Currency, neither the yen or the yuan or even the euro. And there is no chance of going back to the gold standard.

So the Aussie dollar is a happy camper in the largest and most successful mercantile dispensation the world has ever seen.

But best of all, the New Mercantilism is invisible to all but the world's Reserve Bankers. It does not depend on military power like the Roman Empire. It does not depend on territory like the British Empire. And it does not depend on religion like the Ottoman Empire.

But best of all, the New Mercantilism has abolished the old economy of scarcity and has replaced it with an economy of plenty.

Of course we still keep the old habits and thoughts left over from the economy of scarcity. But this is simply neurosis. And already we are living in the Therapeutic Society.

Generation after generation we will come into full flower in an economy of plenty.

    Just like ours.

Sounds like I'm an Australian, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't born there.
