I don't know what the OP meant in regards to tolerance, but the rest of us are just making fun of how silly racism is.

No change in my facial expression, a world of difference in the way people react to me. I even feel guilty for wearing it. We have to get past the extreme sensitivity to these issues before we can start to move away from racism. Nobody said it would be easy.

It's really just honoring someone - it's not about a party or celebration.

I watch a documentary about Martin Luther King Jr. on the History Channel. That's about it.

    We don't have class today.
I don't have any class on Monday this semester, so this Monday isn't really any different for me.

Oh I am glad somebody made this thread. Because I have an american calendar this year and there are all your holidays on it of course (which I am really interested in). And I saw about Martin Luther King Jr.s birthday and also another day (Jan 15th and 19th). So I wondered: Do you guys in the US actually celebrate this? If yes, how? And is it a real holiday where you get a day off?
Rule #1: Driver picks the music. Shotgun shuts his cakehole.

Again, Demons I get, but people are just crazy.

I'm American now. I declared independence from Great Briton in July. I was born and raised in England. When I first came to live in the US I was confused by MLK day. It's seemed pointless. I didn't understand it because I didn't understand the history of this country. I remember naively telling one African American women that my parents were born in Kenya--she said, "oh, so international" or something like that. My roommate was like, you idiot. You gain an appreciation for what it means after you live here for a while.
