    Default Favourite Quotes

Well I think some of you must have a collection of quotes you like, the kind you'd put in your signature for example. I like reading interesting quotations, so post your own favourites if you will please! Funny or serious, doesn't matter.

    Here's some I like:

An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered.
    - G. K. Chesterton

He's the kind of a guy who lights up a room just by flicking a switch.
    - Unknown

Frisbeetarianism is the belief that when you die, your soul goes up on the roof and gets stuck.
    - George Carlin

There is no reciprocity. Men love women, women love children, children love hamsters.
    - Alice Thomas Ellis

Man is tormented by no greater anxiety than to find someone quickly to whom he can hand over that great gift of freedom with which the ill-fated creature is born.
    - Fyodor Dostoevsky

The purpose of a fish trap is to catch fish, and when the fish are caught, the trap is forgotten. The purpose of a rabbit snare is to catch rabbits. When the rabbits are caught, the snare is forgotten. The purpose of words is to convey ideas. When the ideas are grasped, the words are forgotten. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words? He is the one I would like to talk to.
    -Chuang Tzu

We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.
    - Anais Nin

The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.
    - Carl Jung

I'm not really a quote man (I tend to forget quotes) but I agree with at least half of Mark Twain's quotes. And that is saying a lot.

My favorite might be "For I was rich, if not in money, in sunny hours and summer days, and spent them lavishly." Which if you don't understand, you'll never be content. It's from Walden.

A girl phoned me the other day and said... Come on over, there's nobody home. I went over. Nobody was home.

    --Rodney Dangerfield
    ...Then I ducked my head and the lights went out, and two guns blazed in the dark;
And a woman screamed, and the lights went up, and two men lay stiff and stark...

    "Love to eat them mousies
Mousies what I love to eat
    Bite they little heads off
    Nibble on they little feet."

    B Kliban
"No ray of sunshine is ever lost, but the green which it awakes into existence needs time to sprout, and it is not always granted to the sower to see the harvest. All work that is worth anything is done in faith." - Albert Schweitzer

Oh and since Syt and I are huge Twain fans, here's one of my favs from him:

Under "civilization", in wit and wisdom of Mark Twain:

"There are many humorous things in the world; among them, the white man's notion that he is less savage than the other savages"
