    I have a nice quote from the movie "Tears of the Sun" with Bruce Willis. I really liked the movie and also the quote they used:

    The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. - Edward Burke

    For me these two drive the idea that most complications are unnecessary

    The essentials to happiness are something to love, something to do, and something to hope for.

    - William Blake

    Fear less, hope more;
    Whine less, breathe more;
    Talk less, say more;
    Hate less, love more;
    And all good things are yours

    - Swedish Proverb

    Chivalry is only a name for that general spirit or state of mind which disposes men to heroic actions, and keeps them conversant with all that is beautiful and sublime in the intellectual and moral world

    Good quote, but Burke never said that.

    I thought it was Burke, but thought his name was Edmund.

    It's attributed to him, but he never actually stated it.

    Another example of this would be the famous quote attributed to Martin Luther of "Here I stand; I can do no other."

    "I am not a Catholic; but I consider the Christian idea, which has its roots in Greek thought and in the course of the centuries has nourished all of our European civilization, as something that one cannot renounce without becoming degraded."

    It's known the first printing of the speech quoted that statement. It's also known that modern scholars doubt that he actually spoke those words. They are probably correct, so for a favorite quote from the speech, which I prefer over the suspect words:

    "...Thus I cannot and will not recant, because acting against one's conscience is neither safe nor sound. God help me." ~ Martin Luther
    “Naked to unknown forces, fortune evades mere understanding. The trial of effort.
    The dream of change. Such a place might Hell be to thought and action.”

    "A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it."
    --GK Chesterton

    "It is idle to talk always of the alternative of reason and faith. Reason is itself a matter of faith. It is an act of faith to assert that our thoughts have any relation to reality at all."

    "Blessed is he who has learned to admire but not envy, to follow but not imitate, to praise but not flatter, and to lead but not manipulate."

    And the quote I live life by:
    "Fuck it, life goes on."
    The probability that I was procrastinating when I was typing this post:

    P(posting on TypoC | having big assignment due) = .......

    Eh, I'll finish it later.
