No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of your friends or of your own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for you.

    Shirley, don't sue a stripper...

    Why not?

She's a stripper, life sued her and she lost.

“As each of us can live but one life, a choice must perforce be made.
We choose in reality without ceasing; without ceasing, also, we abandon many things.
The route we pursue in time is strewn with the remains of all that we began to be,
of all that we might have become.
But nature, which has at command an incalculable number of lives,
is in no wise bound to make such sacrifices"

    [Henri Bergson - 1907]
“I made you take time to look at what I saw and when you took time to really notice my flower, you hung all your associations with flowers on my flower and you write about my flower as if I think and see what you think and see—and I don't.”
    ― Georgia O'Keeffe

Books serve to show a man that those original thoughts of his aren't very new at all.

I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.

A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.

Arrogance on the part of the meritorious is even more offensive to us than the arrogance of those without merit: for merit itself is offensive.

Perhaps the idea of feeling about your car is a little strange, but herein lies a type of rapport which will bridge the communication gap between you and your transportation... The type of life your car contains differs from yours by time scale, logic level and conceptual anomalies but is 'Life' nonetheless. Its Karma depends on your desire to make and to keep it—Alive!

I forgot how brilliant that one is and it's very true as well. Books have certainly thwarted my attempts at originality.

    Anyhow:
