    I think Sytpg said it well. When you're goofy, you're laughing at your own incompetence. With wit, the object of humor is something outside of you, usually something clever that requires a person to make a few deductions in order to appreciate.

    improbable? i don't see how!

    it's self-deprication for the benefit of the group. make a joke at your own expense, hilarity and good times for all, people associate you with fun and a good time. the key is not to go overboard, being comfortable with yourself is good, encouraging self-abuse is bad
