Interest as earned, meaning no leeway (it starts from moment 0). And the gift thing isn't a problem unless it falls under attribution rules (which really don't apply if you are just talking about winning a normal lottery).

If you did, congratulations! I like to see nice things happen to good people. If you did not, hopefully sometime soon!
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

    * Go back to school, go for a masters eventually
    * Secure $200K in interest-accruing accounts for all future vehicle-related purchases (myself and future spouse)
    * Secure $400K in interest-accruing accounts for future projects of mine
    * Buy a house
    * Invest the rest in long-term investments. (after taxes I'd imagine I won't have too much left for this, but it'll be a huge boost for sure)

Pay off my college loans, pay off my car note, pay for the rest of college, invest, save, put some in a pocket account for travelling...and then just do whatever I was doing before I got the 4.4 million.

Buy a nice condo, a car, and go to school for the rest of my life with one yearly big vacation. All the money I am not spending (and I an not extravagant by any means) will collect some nice interest.

Set a budget of money to give to family and friends so they never wanted for anything again.

    Donate to charity.

Change name, address and phone number...lol place my death notice in papers.

Move out in the mountains with just my husband and cat and become a recluse.

There would be one hell of an overloaded UPS truck coming too, with all the books I ever wanted to read on it coming from Amazon.

    1. Financially plan so that we would not have to worry about money ever again.
    2. Tuck away money for any expenses I might have for... well... THAT.
    3. Buy a nice plot of land that had some privacy and build a nice but unpretentious home. (Something with personality.)
    4. Construct a personal library room, more than one story high, with high windows and ladders that move. And, um, lots of books!
    5. Pay for whatever my kids needed in order to develop their talents and skills to the fullest.
    6. Help people I cared about achieve their dreams, if they had developed a lifestyle to achieve their dreams (i.e., the right mindset) and the only thing holding them back was money.
    7. Write and publish my own books and music.
    8. Travel to different exotic places around the world.
    9. Pay for people to be fed and for the homeless to be sheltered.

I guess I'm the only one with out a definite plan...

I would go buy 4.4 million dollars worth of Chocolate, Lollies and Candy Canes and build myself a giant candy house.
