    Arrow Write your own epitaph

    If you could write your own epitaph (maybe you plan to?), what would it say?

    Feel free to speculate possibilities for other members.

    I will have no epitaph. Once I'm dead, that's it. I've instructed people close to me, to have my remains cremated and thrown in the ocean. No official grave. No last words. Nada.

    I accept no responsibility, what so ever, for the fact that I exist; I do, however, accept full responsibility for what I do while I exist.

    Sounds like what my dad wants only for the ashes to be dumped along the highway home. He also said to keep the jar since it's pretty and if we absolutely have to we're to have a party. He already knows his mother and sister will not approve.

    My first inclination was to have mine read:

    I'm with stupid
    ------>

    but it's not very original. The small screens they have at gas pumps are interesting, the ones playing ads on a loop. I'd like one that features a 10 minute biography of me that makes outrageous claims about my accomplishments while B-list actors extol my virtues. I doubt it's very common in cemeteries, so someone would vandalize it.

    I'd really prefer to be cryogenically frozen. There would just have a plain plaque bearing my name, no fuss and no frills.

    I still couldn't decide yet. I mean theoretically there is SO much one could write on my grave that my stone would have to be as high as the Eiffel Tower or so. And that would look odd, wouldn't it. Tho, I must say I didn't seriously think about the sentence yet. I was more busy with planing my FUNeral and all.

    lol That's great.

    I get that death rituals are mostly for other people, but since it's your death the last act should be carried out the way you wish.

    I found myself thinking about this for the first time while overseas. I had never put an inkling of thought into it beforehand.. a couple of us had a morbid conversation about it to somehow put our minds at ease after an incident.

    I'd want a nice funeral.. and I'm nearly certain I want to be buried with my family, assuming I outlive my parents.

    A lot of funerals feature a celebration of life, to try and ease the hurt of their death.. Like a final, formal birthday or something. At first I thought this was silly until I went to the funeral of a close friend. I appreciated any little effort taken to reduce the initial blow. It was really surreal having to go in the first place, but I think that helped a lot in coping with the loss.

    Heh, actually I thought about that too. Interesting to see some others with the same thought.
