I need a soothing deep voice and sea ambience to be properly hypnotized though. I would anyway, if I wasn't weary of such things. Too many secrets.
Any repetition will induce a trance. And hypnosis is a form of trance.

So, as you see, I used the repetition of the consenant, "p", to induce a very light trance.

I thought it was so light you wouldn't notice it - but you are too perceptive for me and caught me out.

Interestingly much poetry uses repetition to induce a trance. A poem may use the repetition of rhythm to induce a trance, or alliteration, or simply the repetition of words. But its all repetition.

And poetry does this to sidestep the critical mind in order to reach the imagination. And what would poetry be without imagination?

And what would my posts be without imagination?

If you can keep posting in this way people might take you more seriously.

Staying cryptic is selfish because it forces people to adapt to you, just to understand what you're saying. When you write in a more linear matter you will find that people will respond to your posts in kind.
    OK Schnitzel,

    Printed text is linear.

Electronic text is recursive and resonant.
Electronic text is much closer to speech than printed text.

Electronic text is taking us back to the spoken culture from which we come.

But naturally you are highly literate and swim in a sea of linear printed text. And so you are a little out of your depth in electronic text.

So perhaps you might learn to swim with the electrons.

    Victor.

I'm not quite sure if that's true.

Are you saying that posts on a forum should be in a different manner than printed words on a piece of paper or are allowed to be written in a different manner?

In the end they're just visible letters forming sentences and words. I'm not sure where your distinction comes from.

I'm actually exploring all things "subconscious" lately. Reading "Think and Grow Rich" for the first time. Interesting stuff.

It's not a binary choice though. It's a "trinary" choice.

People don't take me seriously because I appeal to a part of them that they need to defend against.

And the defence they use is, 'not taking that part seriously'.

In other words they defend themselves by making a joke of that part of themselves that they find threatening, that they find disturbing, that they need to defend against.

They make a joke of the deepest, most tender, most beautiful part of themselves.

Simply, they make a joke of themselves. And so it is natural to make a joke of others.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

It comes from Marshall McLuhan in, "Understanding Media".

G'day Jack, How ya goin' ?

Yes, we live in the Attention Economy and advertisers pay many billions of dollars every year simply to get our attention.

And yes, you are right on the money - there is no such thing as bad publicity.

But why leave ourselves helpless in the hands of the adverisers. Let's do a deal.

I will pay you attention exactly the same amount you pay me.

So we knock out the middle man.

We start a virtuous circle - a more democratic cirlce - a circle facilitated, aided and abeted by the electronic media.

Would you like to paraphrase Mcluhan's argument for the majority of the membership? You can't expect everyone to have read every book.
