Default Flashmobs

How many hours did I spend in that library and not once was there a rave? Unfair! I wish awesome shit like that happened when I was there.

Anyway, I only a few weeks ago found out about this flashmob thing, where people agree to meet up in public and do something weird all at the same time (lie down on the floor, have a pillowfight, all rock out on their headphones for a weirdo silent rave, etc). Anybody ever participated in one?

MOBILE CLUBBING

Also, pillow fight club rules:

THE RULES OF PILLOW FIGHT CLUB ARE:
Tell everyone about pillow fight club
Show up at pillow fight club venue with pillow hidden in plastic carrier bag
At exact given time pull pillow from bag and fight
Do not fight anyone without pillow in hand (unless they want it)
And other kinds of flashmobs:

Once me and some people in a Surrealist club all showed up at a roller rink dressed as Santas and caroused rather wildly.

My favorite one is the one where all the people show up at a downtown Best Buy dressed in clothing that looks fairly close to the employee uniform. Then they proceeded to "help customers" without actually claiming to be employees. The store got all freaked out about it and threatened to call the police, even though the organizers knew that they ultimately stood on firm legal ground for not having actually broken any laws. They would say "Do you want me to leave the store then? or do you want to continue interrogating me ? " and deny that there was "anything going on".

Another good one was a flash mob that showed up as "fans" for an obscure garage band playing late at night at an obscure hole in the wall bar. They even had T-shirts made up and a banner etc. with the band name and "logo" on them.
"The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them that they are being attacked and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

That's so awesome, I would be into that if I ever heard about and was able to be organised enough to remember to go.

Cool, I'm all for this type of stuff. People only did things like this at my college to protest the Iraq War. Like getting hundreds of people to lay down and play dead while blocking the entrances to the lecture halls.

I LOVE THIS SONG. HELL YEAH.

I remember jumping up and down like that at my homecoming dance. That's pretty much all you can do for this song.

No, never seen or participated in anything like this. This is a pretty cool idea though:

Honestly, that's amazing. I love seeing people band together to break rules, especially when it's done for community building. This is my thing.
