Default what is beauty? (split from "Show Me Beauty")

The problem with beauty is that it is in the eye of the beholder.

    We try to capture beauty.

We try to capture beauty in things.

That is, we try to reify beauty - to turn it into a thing.

Just as we try to reify the personality through MBTI.

But beauty is not a thing any more than your personality is a thing.

And beauty cannot be captured in a photograph any more than your personality can be captured by MBTI.

To see something beautiful, you don't need to see something, you need to be something.

So if you can't see beauty, you need to change your being.

To turn beauty into a thing must be one of the deepest perversions and one of the most tempting.

Looking around me in Canberra, I see one of the most beautiful cities in the world. But Canberra has been made beautiful simply to legitimate power.

Yes, this is the power Capital of Australia and the most beautiful. And this is no accident.

Beauty here has been perverted for the cause of power.

Whereas beauty appears only when she is loved for her own sake.

If you try to capture her, she disappears.

If you try to use her for an ulterior purpose, she vanishes.

If you try to reify her, her presence is concealed by her absence.

She is truly beautiful and only the beautiful can see her.

So perhaps, rather than wanting to see something beautiful, you might want to be beautiful.

But how, how can we change our desires?

    You are overthinking it.

It does hurt because it denies the very nature of beauty.

It turns beauty into something ugly.

It turns beauty into a reflection of yourself.

and that's why it's beautiful victor...beauty as defined by someone else...it lets you see inside them a bit...and what could be more beautiful then that!!??
There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first.

No, I mean, when you can't see beauty, you see ugliness.

And the ugliness you see outside yourself is a reflection of the ugliness within.

aww... are you saying you lack the ability to see the beauty that others see...because there is none within?

We live in a consumer society where everything is turned into a commodity.

We even turn beauty into a commodity, but this is impossible.

And you know, and I know, that the most important thing to sell in the consumer society is ourselves. Our whole success depends on how well we sell ourselves.

We sell ourselves like a commodity - we even turn our personality into a commodity by MBTI.

We turn ourselves into things into order to be successful.

We reify ourselves in order to be normal.

And we are surprised when we look around us and only see ugliness.

We are immensely, unbelievably naive to think beauty can be captured in a photograph.

    Beauty wants to be free.
