I'm INFJ some days I'm super happy and some days I'm not. In general, I'm the happiest I have been in a long time.

Yeah...I'm generally very happy, often whatever happens (ok, I've never been starving, so maybe in that case I wouldn't be).

Most of my life was Sad on the large scale (pervasive) and happy only in small daily up and down currents that were still pretty low.

Nowadays I'm Happy on the large scale, while day to day things sometimes get rocky.

I'm pretty much always optimistic but not always happy, don't think that's realistically achievable, particularly not for a N who is always looking to set things up for the future as opposed to living in the moment.

I'm happy, for the most part. Things could be worse? Then again...things could be better!

    For the most part, yes!
I still have a day of being irritable or morose here and there, but I'm definitely the happiest I've been in a while.

Normally I'm happy, but in the last 1.5 years, I've been too restless and angsty to really consider myself happy. It's more like... intense?

Ditto. Except for right now, I am on the downswing of unhappy but I am still optimistic that might improve at some point. What you said mirrors something that has been bothering me a lot lately. I don't want to be someone that is always looking to the future. Is this an "N" trait? Is there a way out of that trap of thinking in order to just be happy in the moment?

Dunno, I've had this conversation a few times and while I and the other Ns Ive talked to can be happy in the moment by indulging in passions or focusing Se/Si it seems to be a difficult thing to keep hold of as there's a constant desire to look forward. Don't know how to stop that, it's so instinctual.
