    Default Kid Slang

Okay, this is Bad Mom move here...

... but my 12-year-old kid left his e-mail open when I went to check mine, and I saw he had written like 50 messages to his friend whose e-mail I just approved a day or two ago, and I couldn't help but look at one of these...

... and I have no idea what they're saying!

Nevermind friend, off the e-chain, how are you friend?

    What did you just say?

Not much, I'm doing homework, how about you?

I'm still good, I love rap music, how are you friend?

That'd be about the gist of it.

My younger brothers are both 'as white as they come' and they still talk like this sometimes with their friends. I assume they find it humorous.

We've come a long way from regular computer shorthand... be glad they have not indulged in 1337 [LEET] speak yet. That could get really difficult.
Don't hate me because you're beautiful.

    Wow, thanks.

Honestly, this was only a SMALL portion of the e-mails.
They write this stuff all the time apparently!

    Rough translation in blue:

nevr mind homie g of da e-chain sup dawg??

    Never mind, man. What's up?

wutr did u justy say with the sizzle 2 the fashizzle Yo!

Something along the lines of, "What did you just tell me?" or "What did you say about it?"

nm mi homie doin homework u??

Not much, man...doing homework. And you?

im still gangsta yo! i luv da rap yo! wut up mi homie?

I'm still myself (a total whitey trying my best to find my identity and experimenting with language and a culture that I likely know nothing about outside of rap music). I love rap music, ya know. What's up, man?

    ----------------------------------------------

Overall, I'd say no need for immediate worry. Seems pretty harmless, and monotonously trivial and boring. I would probably start to be confused or worried if nouns start to be replaced with words you don't understand.

    Ahahahaha!

looks like x kid was just asking y kid what's up but did so with too much slang for y kid to understand.

y asked x kid to clarify what he said.

x kid then said nevermind and told y kid that he was doing his homework.

y kid tries to save himself by telliing x kid that he is still one of the cool kids.

Note also the messages were in reverse.

Oh fun. My two teens are both anime freaks and my older one is in her second year of German, so I have to guess a lot of meaning from tone.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”
