Pretty masquerade masks with feathers and shiz are awesomeness, and conceptually, masks are kind of awesome, but, hmm, I like to be able to see somebody's face, you know?

It doesn't even look like a mask, it looks like a fictional/animated character.

It's the conceptual idea that I like for the most part, yeah. But usually just in fiction. In reality, masking the face usually seems to be used to more easily commit horrible crimes without guilt, such as in the case of the KKK. Or as lame elementary school art projects.

I must say, as a thread intended for matchmaking, it is a colossal FAIL.

    Still, some interesting reading.

I think we all have "masks" that we wear. I didn't want to believe I did that, but I do. I wonder, however, if the features of the mask chosen reveal something deeper than what would be a person "authentic" self.

I've thought about this quite a bit, and I wonder if labeling them as "masks" is appropriate. Maybe they aren't masks as much as developing parts of our personality. While something is still developing, it's going to feel awkward and uncomfortable, and maybe even fake.

On the other hand, there's people who can become radically different than they normally are for, say, working as a salesman. Something like I'd probably call a mask.

Damn, we've really derailed this, haven't we...
