In this culture, a man is supposed to:

    1. work.
    2. pay.
    3. suck it up.

Oddly, we are mostly okay with this.

Not absolutely, of course, but it's easy to see that it's a question from a feminine point of view. We generally don't really think in those terms. Rather than being insecure and needing some perspective, I'm more likely to be uncertain and requiring more data.

If I'm "insecure about something and need some perspective," I do one of the following:

    1. Gather more data,
    2. Brood
    3. Forget about it for a while and do something fun.

This represents a certain degree of dysfunction on my part, but I'm by no means unusual in that regard.
Actually this is quite typical. Damn, thats actually a good explanation of what actually happens.

Grin, it's interesting to see. So how do you acquire more data when you have certain feelings you cannot get rid of or do not understand?

    Feelings?

What is this 'feelings' you speak of?

EDIT: More to the point, emotions are either addressed through behavior, or endured. If I'm lonely, I go find company. If I'm angry, I either act on it or wait for it to go away. If I'm happy... well, I'm just happy. I don't have to do a whole lot of parsing with regard to my relationships, either.

Might sound stupid, but I honestly don't know how to relate to this question.

EDIT: I usually know why I feel the way I feel. If I am pissed I know why, if I am sad/lonely, I know why. Like Oberon said, if you don't know why you just eat it and bury it inside. Still I can't recall ever having an emotion that I didn't know where it came from.

Once again we're agreeing with each others' posts.

I also doubt a strong male F would respond any differently. This needs testing, where are those NF's?

Sometimes our cat wakes me up in the middle of the night because he wants me to let him outside. That makes me mad.

    There... happy?

Also, like I said, I usually know where they come from (99.99999% of the time).
