Default What to do when you don't feel like working but you should be?

Right now, I'm sitting about wasting time. I need to make corrections to the group results for a class before we submit it to the prof. Catch up on my class readings. I was also planning on getting several articles written up for my blog today.

Here I am telling myself to "just do it". Not quite working though. All I ended up doing was thinking how this might make an interesting forum topic...

So, how do you motivate yourself to end procrastination?

Get some coke and snacks, place yourself by the computer and kick yourself in the ass mentally into doing it. You know you need to.

Go for a walk. Take a notepad (just in case).

    -What are you talking about?
-Endymion, my dear. A beautiful youth possessed by the moon.
-Well, forget about him and get to bed.
    -Yes, my dear.

I think that the most stupid that you can do is working whan you not up to it since you will doing it slower and lose even more energy.

What I do, I retreat into my head and I do some big picture thinking and/or planning or I play video games.

But if you have a deadline then you have a deadline, there is not debate about it.

Get the most important and pressing thing done, then take a nap.

I have the same problem. One of the only things that helps without putting a knife to my own throat, is think about the task and the result and what it would be like to have it done, while you grab what you need for it. Then you sit down with everything you need, and the step to start won't seem that big anymore.

I have to admit though that it isn't a foolproof technique, but it's the only one I have so far

Think "the sooner I end this shit, the sooner I can go back to procrastinate". Sometimes work.

Hm, I read about a very simple Method to make yourself "want to work", even if you dun wanna.
Just place your Work right in Front of you and force yourself to look at it for 15mins (and not do anything else besides that). It will bother you so much that you'll wanna do it. =D

Sometimes also just start and fantasise about not doing it works too.
Rule #1: Driver picks the music. Shotgun shuts his cakehole.

Again, Demons I get, but people are just crazy.

    I post here.
If I absolutely need to finish whatever it is, I take a break outside (weather permitting), come back and do not start anything that could be distracting (like logging on here).
