If I have to MAKE myself do something, I usually have to talk myself into realizing that it's not as large a task as I've built it up to be in my brain. And sometimes I have to impose J on myself and just DO IT without allowing myself to ruminate about it too much. Because I can always talk myself out of it. I have to just take the action and hope for the best.

I went and read a novel then napped for a few. The day's half over and I only finished one thing.

    hahahaha J's!

all you have to do is persuade yourself that there's no reason why you "should" be working, and that not working is the best thing to do at the moment and a valid choice: and that the potential results of not working are, even at worst, workable and not the end of the world. then sit back and enjoy. for more guidance, consult your nearest P

Hehe, I just donít do it. If it has to be done I try to find someone else to do it for me if that canít happen I leave it to the last minute, nothing inspires me more than an impossible deadline. I know, I'm no help.

I don't do the work if I don't feel like it, and I find a way to make sure I never feel guilty about relaxing and forgetting about the project. While this seems counter-intuitive, eventually, while enjoying myself, I start building up a desire to work on what I have due and when I start thinking that I'd like to do some work, I don't hestitate to do it. However, I also make a start time calculated to the point where if I am not doing whatever needs to be done, I will miss the deadline/I will not get sleep.

I don't. It ends when it feels like it.

Deadlines are for people that are bad at figuring out ways around them. If there isn't a way around it....I just let myself keep procrastinating, and will just put one intense effort into it the day before it's due. Anything that I've actually tried to get done, always gets done. I just prefer to cram it all into 3 hours of work late at night, instead of forcing myself to do it during the day, when I've got better things to do.

Here I am telling myself to "just do it". Not quite working though. All I ended up doing was thinking how this might make an interesting forum topic...

So, how do you motivate yourself to end procrastination?
I set up a reward for when I'm done.
