I get free drinks all the time. Just from listening. Nyah, nyah. Apparently, if you listen respectfully to people they feel obligated to compensate you with free alcohol.
I've found that making fun of people gets me free drinks!
It sucks though that fewer people beleive a woman advising them on wine than a man (true- I thought at first that it was my age, but they second guess ALL women, and I'm one of the few employees actually QUALIFIED to advise and educate on the beverage! :steam... while my male coworkers can get away with merely pouring and pointing, I tend to have to flirt for my sales

I'm sure she doesn't mind it coming from you. That's the thing though.. Sometimes it's quite welcomed and viewed as friendly, flirty behavior.. harmless and not destructive.. But sometimes, the vibes are different.. and we feel entirely alienated. We have this urge to be equal, while allthewhile knowing that we'll never achieve it because we are thought of as different. We don't want to be the SAME as men.. we like our position as women, and that's proven time and time again in discussions about what we want out of men.. but we have this idealistic urge to crave equality anyways.. I suppose we really like what we can't have on an absolute level.
