    I disagree
I don't think I'd be able to pull the trigger on someone else. Add the danger of the thing going off accidentily in the wrong direction due to the adrenaline..I'll take my chances with fighting skills.

You hex that mother into a lobster for 3.5 seconds. If that doesn't get you around the alley corner, I don't know what will.

Not joking. I guarantee, that will disable anyone. If you can't reach that squeeze a finger and bend it the fuck back.

Those minor extremities are the real soft spots. Forget a groin kick. They know to defend against that.
    I like the finger idea.

Then you are correct, you should not carry a firearm.

I tell you the truth, though... if my daughter and I got in a scrape with someone whom I thought was really endangering her, I would drop the hammer on the threat with no regrets.

    That's different. For someone I love, I wouldn't hesitate. For myself..no way

I've never imagined that I wouldn't be able to shoot someone...quite the opposite really. But I realize that it is probably very different when you're actually in the situation than when you're just thinking about it.

I think if the situation is clear enough, like someone with a knife running towards a loved one, or someone already pointing or firing a gun at you, most people would be able to pull the trigger. Of course I have no way of knowing this though.

That's when millions of years of evolution kicks in. You'd tear out their throat with your teeth if they were harming a child or loved one.

That reminds me: I really enjoyed the film "A History of Violence"
