Statistics about women in the military wouldn't reflect the general population either, I'd reckon. I just looked it up and the figure for "sexual assault" in the military is actually higher than that, since the term "sexual assault" can include anything from unwelcome touching to rape.

Sexual assault in military 'jaw-dropping,' lawmaker says - CNN.com

Four in 10 women at a veterans hospital reported being sexually assaulted while in the military.
One thing, these are women who have some reason to go to a veteran's hospital, so I wonder if the figure might be different for the entire population of female veterans. Then you've got complicating factors like underreporting due to shame or fear of retribution. Who knows what the real numbers are?

I have no problem with intelligent women, nor being corrected by them. I admit that it isn't my style to keep a detailed eye on the facts and I appreciate those who do, as they indeed keep the cause running on the right facts. So don't get me wrong, I look to your type to verify I just reacted to the judgemental feel of the last sentence, which makes me a bit defensive.

Amargith, don't worry about it, okay? I didn't mean to put you on the defensive. I don't mistrust you. "Trust and verify," it's something I use in my parenting and it comes in handy outside of that context as well.

That is just so scary to think about when people say its always by someone you know, because the first question that pops to mind when I think rapist, is WTF, doesn't he have a mom, sister, daughter, etc . . .

    Somehow, I doubt that.

Actually, upon consideration, I don't. It depends on how you self identify I reckon.

Discretion. Finally. Who'd have thought an ENTP could figure that out?

I guess that's true in the sense a man could post the same thing about liking what he was... so there's no inherent logical specificity to the argument? Otherwise I'd agree with Ivy.

Untrue. Being attacked the first time actually gave me more confidence as I realized I could handle myself pretty well in that situation. Adrenaline is good stuff.
