I'm no political expert, I'm too young to vote, and I ultimately am pretty apathetic politically speaking, but I like Obama and I liked his speach, even if I only got it from a poetic standpoint and not from a true political perspective.
Beat, I think you made a great point. The hype around this whole thing is super sensationalized. We'll have to wait and see what gets carried out.
I watched the speech this morning... I realized that the election meant more to me than I thought it would. For the past eight years or so I had gotten used to thinking that US means about the same as "war" and "torture" but now that Obama was speaking, I remembered that it wasn't always so. In the nineties there was certain respect and even admiration.. or at least it felt that way here. But I was young, I could remember wrong. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you Americans out there that for the first time in almost a decade I feel good about where the world might be headed now that Bush steps down. Congratulations!
Uh...thanks? I guess?
Everybody have fun tonight. Everybody Wang Chung tonight.
