    They've steadily expanded the existing ones. Easier and cheaper. All the infrastructure is already there, adding to it is much easier than having to create whole new pipeline/distribution systems and such.

    With that said, we could still probably use more refineries (or at least we could have until demand dropped 5-10% compared to a year ago), I think they're about to approve one in the Dakotas. (Refining the oil coming south out of Canada).

    I paid $2.28/gal here (west central Indiana) yesterday, then saw it for a few cents cheaper.

    1 a litre, almost spot on at the moment.

    At today's exchange rates that's about $6.80 per US gallon.
