    Dear me,

Yes, this is actually a letter from yourself.
No, a hole hasn't ripped through to another universe.
No, you cannot come to the future.
Yes, do buy some better encyclopedias this is no longer the 60's.
    Never. Stop. Drawing.
Never get rid of your Legos. You will REGRET it.
I suggest listening to your parents music more. You will be surprised in how much you like it.
    Build a better treehouse.
    Call your grandma more.
Hug your dad and tell him you love him more.
Read The Hobbit. It's really not that boring, I promise.
DO NOT sell any of your books at any garage sale no matter what Mom says.
Oh yeah, and, you CAN make a career as an artist. Anyone who says "No" doesn't know what they're talking about.
    Read more comics, please.

    Some things to help you:

Don't take crap from anyone. It doesn't matter if you'll get in trouble, I promise things like that have a way of working out. Just do not let anyone mess with you or insult you and walk away from it with their pride intact.
You are different. You cannot change this. So stop moping and go out and share your oddness with people. You'll be surprised with how many will actually accept you.
10 years on, you'll still love half the stuff you do now. We don't ever really grow up.
Your mother isn't controlling, she just doesn't quite understand how your mind works yet. Help her, please.

Have a nice 10 years, see you when you catch up to me.

    Steph

I was so pleased that this wasn't something I needed a timewarp to have done as a child, it was magical to enjoy as a young'un.

    Dear Me,

Never bother with any kind of spirituality. It's not worth it.

    Sincerely,
    Me.

    (make it 12 years ago)

    Dear Kelric Jr.,

Leave grad school now. You're unhappy with it, and sticking around for another 5 years is just going to waste your time. It's not going anywhere, it's not worth it, and you'll be happier doing something else with your life.

Oh wow. It was ten years and one week ago that I learned I was a father. I guess I would say "Ask your wife every day what you can do for her, and then do it."

    dearest me,

Maybe just a Soc/Spanish double major instead of even more... just because you find it interesting doesn't mean that you should MAJOR in it

2 guys will ask you on a date on the same day during your sophomore year- say yes to the steady one, not the mercurial one. You'll miss the first one later when you realize that you really had something genuine- and you'll not be single at the same time for a long time, and then he'll be gone. The second guy is bad news- you'll get out of that, but it won't be pretty.

Take the job... you don't know you'll feel trapped unless you give it a try!

Always remember to lock the sliding glass door- your kneecap will thank you later.

Also, never miss an opportunity to laugh with your friends- that's what keeps you sane.

    sincerely,

    heather

(no- you're not hallucinating- I know you haven't tried drugs yet so it's not possible! )

ps- stick with the legal drugs- the illegal ones will just make you sleepy AND they're pricey

I'm suprised no one said the following.

    Dear me,

Some serious shit is gonna go down in NYC two years. Now that you're armed with this information maybe you should warn somebody or something... I don't know it's not my problem, well technically it is, but... you know what just warn somebody.

Two problems with that though. Either no one believes you, or they think you must be in on it and you end up in jail and/or beaten severely.
