Has anyone tried this yet?

I downloaded it at work and it was faster and seemed quite good but now I'm posting from it I'm beginning to get cheesed off.

For a start I don't seem to be able to scroll up using the touchpad and perhaps worse is that it won't spellcheck the word you click on but only the last thing you typed which makes spellchecking after you've typed out the post a real pain!!

Anyhow for anyone who's tried Firefox 3, Opera or IE8 then this Google Chrome seems quite good for a Beta. The bugs are a pain but it does honestly seem a little snappier than the others especially when dealing with flash videos or other more complex website features.

Thought I'd see what you guys thought of it.

I downloaded it but for some reasoning the browser wasn't working. It might have just been my internet connection though. Thats interesting is it really that good, I've gotten used to firefox.

Aside from occasionally shutting down if I try to go to a non-bookmarked site in the main tab, I I'm having no problems at all. I actually switched because after using Firefox forever, 3 seemed to suddenly not want to cooperate so I just gave up.

Yes, I've been using it for about a month and a day (i.e., more than disregard) and I really like it too. No. I love it. It's a google product...who wouldn't dare love a google product?

But I've spent so long getting FF3 just right.

Can anyone describe what's so good about it, or is it just easier to use?

Just downloaded it, and i'm posting with it now... Looks like a good browser's on the way if this is the beta. I'm a long-time user of Opera and Firefox, and I definitely want something new. Like the design, too.

I much prefer FF2 and even Opera.

It's not necessarily a bad browser (in fact I found that it was faster than all other browsers I've used), it just lacks stuff that I've gotten too used to. I'm all into customizing my browsers, too, and since it's still really new and in beta, it's extremely lacking in that area.

Might re-download it one of these days....

I found it annoying with few compelling features to compensate.

I hope it gets better. I would really like to use it.

It has porn mode. It's really fast. You can drag tabs around, take them out and make new pages out of them, or move them to other brower pages (best feature). It's sleek and minimalist. It has the ability to create applications out of webpages. It's new...

Leave it up to Google to make a great product.
I LOVE their maps.

What is "porn mode"?
Is it some sort of filter?

Incognito Window. You use it and it won't log your browsing history.

How disappointing.. i was hoping it replaces dull things (boring news, yet more economic/banking collapses, election coverage) with porn to keep you enlivened.

My biggest likes of Chrome are:
- faster rendering
- more responsive
- crashing one tab doesn't necessarily lead to crashing all tabs
- more screen real estate
- incognito mode is useful in certain situations when trying to login to a site with a different user/pass (so, you can have two different active sessions without it being a pain) - useful when debugging certain web apps (although this is not the 'main' purpose of incognito)
- I like the way Find works (does highlighting in the scrollbar)
- I like it when opening a new tab it has a list of the most active things I've clicked on and other userful information
- integrated search and URL bar (took some getting used to)

Biggest pet peeves of Chrome:
- when hovering over a link with a long href it doesn't display the full link (information that can be useful when I am debugging web apps)
- shift+enter of text in URL bar doesn't go to a .net site (this functionality is in Firefox)
- ctrl+shift+enter of text in URL bar doesn't go to a .org site (this functionality is in Firefox)

To get access the latest and greatest development version of Google Chrome (includes bug fixes), I recommend using their dev channel. More info here (warning, may not always have stable releases):
Dev Channel: Early Access to Features and Fixes (Chromium Developer Documentation)

I'm currently using 0.3.154.3.

You can read about what fixes are in the dev channel here:
Release Notes (Chromium Developer Documentation)

No, that would be turning off moderation on your search preferences.

No.. I dont want to just be able to search for porn.

I want a porn mode that just realises the website you are on has got particularly dull (yet another Obama v McCain argument) and passes you some porn instead to liven it up.

Are you listening Google?
