Where will we go? What will we do? What will we turn into?

Will the evolution of our own minds be altered by the parallel evolution of artificial minds? Biological evolution is rather slow, and computer programs, technology, and AI evolve relatively fast (in fact, muuuuch faster). Will we eventually be left in the dust by our technological offspring? Will they ever be able to exist independently of us, or will we still be necessary, in much the same way as individual cells to organs, and organs to our human organism? Is there a collective intelligence supervening over the interrelations between us humans and our technology? If yes, then is this collective intelligence 'conscious' in the way that we are 'conscious'? Does it have qualia? Is it a 'higher' being? Does this even matter? If no, then are qualia to brain science what the luminiferous aether was to physics?

I propose the idea that man and machine will merge. I think it will occur in several phases. With the advent of nanotechnology and man's constant need for telepresence, as seen by the need for people to have cell phones and chat to always be in touch with friends and relatives, and the development of technology that permits the powering of technology by the human body, man will begin this merging process with communications technology first. Much as everyone who has cell phones today and exercises a pseudo awareness of their world as they drive down the road and talk with their friends, the integration of cell phone technology into the self will eliminate the need for external devices. Communication with friends and family will begin with a keyword or thought to connect up with whoever. Soon it may develop into simply an awareness that everyone is at your fingertips at all times. You will have instantaneous communication.

Then comes the integration of memory devices into the brain. People will no longer need thumb drives, PDA's or any other external data storage device; It will simply be kept as an add-on device implanted into the body and also powered by the body. A thought controlled interface will permit the storage and retrieval of data from there. This may be coupled with the implanted cell phone so the you can interface with the internet and people can send you data at anytime. Image, receiving a copy of the newspaper directly in storage in your brain for you to recall and "know" any time, any where.

These two technologies will require that computers be implanted into you to control the data input/output and activation and maintenance of the technology. From there will come the integration of enhancement technology which will integrate man and technology so that we become a homogeneous being - part organic, part machine.

Based on this, I think that man and AI will integrate; We and AI will evolve together as symbiotic parts of society until, one day, the two will be inseparable and indistinguishable from one another.

You're proposing a future in which we integrate with existing technology. Computing theory hasn't changed much, but wild conceptual advances will still be made. In the future, the idea of merging with something such as a memory storage or communication device would seem rather silly and archaic.

But all of this is a tangent.

We and AI will evolve together as symbiotic parts of society

What will society turn into? Will there be a collective intelligence that we'll be mostly unaware of? Is this already the case?

OH, I didn't see all those people running around with LG and Motorola phones implanted in them today. Guess I missed the first wave.

Silly and archaic means that we have to get there and surpass it first so that it can be considered that.

But all of this is a tangent.

It is pertinent and people are currently discussing it's implications for the near and distant future now, and they aren't all scientists and theoreticians. They're police, technology trendwatchers, forensics experts, and technology buffs.

What will society turn into? Will there be a collective intelligence that we'll be mostly unaware of? Is this already the case?

Current communications technology is already setting the stage for a collective intelligence. We are already at the point where if someone does not know something, the can call someone, Google for it, data mine for it, or use a whole mixed host of people and stored information albeit in a currently crude fashion. The next logical phase is to implant everything so that there will be no need to external interaction, it will be done all consciously at first and then subconsciously. People will simply be aware of all this information floating around. The AI that will power these advanced devices will simply be an extension of mankind and his consciousness. Besides there may come a time when man is simply uploaded into the technology and he BECOMES the AI.

'Collective intelligence' as in a higher being with a metaphorical 'brain' composed of individual human brains and computers as 'neurons'.

"If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent Him." - Voltaire

The question isn't whether such a thing exists or will exist. The question is more... Should we attribute the properties of intelligence, consciousness, & awareness that we think of ourselves and others as having to this hypothetical super organism?

Perhaps humans are now giving Gaia a mind.

Why?
What about the notion that these typology sites could have a major role in helping to create artificial personalities?......

Indeed Nassim Haramein has solved many of the esoteric secrets of the Cosmos and remains vastly underrated and underrecognized because like 99% of the population doesn't even know who this pioneering physicist is and I sure as heck didn't until this year so what a shame!
