Any business steps into any challenges especially about its supplies. In lieu of that , protecting our products from chaos is our major focus. But then what are the effective tactics in relation to mitigating risks? Can technology assists the business against supply chain challenges? Are there other tactics in managing or analyzing risks in handling or distributing products.

A couple years ago, I read "In-N-Out Burger: A Behind-the-Counter Look at the Fast-Food Chain that Breaks All the Rules" and some of the questions you raised are addressed in the book.

In-N-Out controls the supply chain by buying the farms that supply their potatos and beef. They solve the distribution problem by building air-conditioned trucks that deliver the beef patties and they choose the restaurant locations near freeways, both for easy distribution and for greater customer access.

In order to answer this more effectively specifics would help.

Can technology assists the business against supply chain challenges?

Of course. I work in transportation/operations backend and when push to talk first came out years ago, whole industries moved to it. Certain industries are very time senstive and seconds matter. Cell phones just don't cut it.

Are there other tactics in managing or analyzing risks in handling or distributing products.

A fundamental ability is to gather data quickly and efficiently. Computers are good. There are still many logistic/operations oriented businesses that are still using paper. Cloud based software allows some of these companies access to programs that allow them to collect and track data that can generate the reports needed to facilitate analysis.
