So we need a kind of laser technology, a room filled with a non hazardous medium and then the human eye can be tricked. Technically its my belief that holographic technology is about to dawn real soon, starting with displays and then advancing into scifi dimensions.
Making photons toucheable tho, is technically not possible yet. I guess you'ld have to work with very eloquented magnetic fields and molecules reacting to it, like in magnetic resonance imaging. Biggest problem prolly will be having a cpu that is powerful enough to do the realtime calculations.
