    Default Space images...

This image is one of the more powerful space images of earth I've seen in a while. It shows the Shiveluch volcano erupting and the earth image shot begin taken directly from overhead showing the ash cloud 32,000 feet into the atmosphere.

    sdalek, nice!

It's amazing how big of an effect a 'little smudge' like that can have!

Oh wow. I had no idea. That's how people can be interested in astronomy.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

Yeah, some beautiful stuff. The HDF reminds me of jewels, floating in space... A pity our eyes don't register most of the good stuff, when looking at the sky at night...

The cats eye nebula also is another great one:
