This is why typing movie characters sucks.

(Spoilers not included) Take Captain America from the new movie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Well, based on the fact that Steve Rogers took in the environment around him and saw how the people in the elevator around him were acting, he is a definite Se valuer and probably an Se dom or aux based on his conscious command over it.

Though, as you continue along in the movie, Steve Rogers has approximately 300 individual, detailed, flash-backs and one that is extremely life-like, happening around him, so he is probably an Si valuer.

Se + Si = ?

He's ISFJ. The physicality of his Se is 'artificial' aka, it is partly the result of him undergoing the effects of the experimental drugs that create super soldiers. The rest is devotion to the army which often emphasises the training of traits that Se displays. If you watch the origin movie, he is very eager but nobody expects him to ever amount to anything in the army due to him not fitting the classic profile which is why he undergoes the experimental drug out of loyalty and duty to his country. Add that to his impeccable ability to instantly see when people are affected by a group atmosphere and the way he can tell that Loki is winding them up instead and you get and you get ISFJ.

That said, it isn't uncommon for SFJ men to a) feel the need to be more hands on due to the view society holds of men traditionally and b) for people to be rather good at using the other side of their dominant coin (Si users having access to Se). It might not be their preferred method of doing things, but it is available to them in an addition to their dom if trained enough - which the army would certainly provide.

Yea he doesn't make much sense. His personality seems ISFJ but then they gave him all these ISTP traits.

The same in real life...

Mbti funtions depend on the context. We can only catch an instant picture with which we identify (or "idealize" ourself) more easily.
Of course no one is only oriented by Se or Si (as it is for others functions), we're not robots (I hope), we're adaptable when it's appropriate.

This.

And regarding contexts in fictional characters we get to see them in numerous contexts. Therefore i would say it's easier (takes less time) to type a fictional (esp tv movie adaptations) characters than rl characters.

Also adaptability should be considered esp when it comes to.perceiving functions
