Anyone know enough about Jackson Browne to type him?

My guess is xNFP based on the lyrics and his pic, but curious what anyone else thinks.

Jackson Browne | For America lyrics

As if I really didn't understand
That I was just another part of their plan
I went off looking for the promise
Believing in the motherland
And from the comfort of a dreamers bed
And the safety of my own head
I went on speaking of the future
While other people fought and bled
The kid I was when I first left home
Was looking for his freedom and a life of his own
But the freedom that he found wasn't quite as sweet
When the truth was known
I have prayed for america
I was made for america
Its in my blood and in my bones
By the dawns early light
By all I know is right
Were going to reap what we have sown

As if freedom was a question of might
As if loyalty was black and white
You hear people say it all the time-
My country wrong or right
I want to know what that's got to do
With what it takes to find out whats true
With everyone from the president on down
Trying to keep it from you

The thing I wonder about the dads and moms
Who send their sons to the vietnams
Will they really think their way of life
Has been protected as the next war comes?
I have prayed for america
I was made for america
Her shining dream plays in my mind
By the rockets red glare
A generations blank stare
We better wake her up this time

The kid I was when I first left home
Was looking for his freedom and a life of his own
But the freedom that he found wasn't quite as sweet
When the truth was known
I have prayed for america
I was made for america
I cant let go till she comes around
Until the land of the free
Is awake and can see
And until her conscience has been found

Jackson Browne | The Pretender lyrics

Im going to rent myself a house
In the shade of the freeway
Im going to pack my lunch in the morning
And go to work each day
And when the evening rolls around
Ill go on home and lay my body down
And when the morning light comes streaming in
Ill get up and do it again
Amen
Say it again
Amen

I want to know what became of the changes
We waited for love to bring
Were they only the fitful dreams
Of some greater awakening
Ive been aware of the time going by
They say in the end its the wink of an eye
And when the morning light comes streaming in
Youll get up and do it again
Amen

Caught between the longing for love
And the struggle for the legal tender
Where the sirens sing and the church bells ring
And the junk man pounds his fender
Where the veterans dream of the fight
Fast asleep at the traffic light
And the children solemnly wait
For the ice cream vendor
Out into the cool of the evening
Strolls the pretender
He knows that all his hopes and dreams
Begin and end there

Ah the laughter of the lovers
As they run through the night
Leaving nothing for the others
But to choose off and fight
And tear at the world with all their might
While the ships bearing their dreams
Sail out of sight

Im going to find myself a girl
Who can show me what laughter means
And well fill in the missing colors
In each others paint-by-number dreams
And then well put out dark glasses on
And well make love until our strength is gone
And when the morning light comes streaming in
Well get up and do it again
Get it up again

Im going to be a happy idiot
And struggle for the legal tender
Where the ads take aim and lay their claim
To the heart and the soul of the spender
And believe in whatever may lie
In those things that money can buy
Thought true love could have been a contender
Are you there?
Say a prayer for the pretender
Who started out so young and strong
Only to surrender

I care, I just don't have any insight into it. So all i could post is "I'm Alive" is a great song. ;)

No wild guess based on the lyrics to "I'm Alive?" ;)

It's all about the fun, no one is gonna get all riled up if you guess way off...if they do they don't really belong in the pop culture folder. :)

Actually, "I'm Alive" seems like an ISFP song to me, but then I could just be biased because I relate to the lyrics so much. And we IxFPs have a lot in common when it comes to the way we feel stuff, so your original guess could be dead on. :)

Well, I would venture a guess at maybe XSFP. The lyrics are more concrete than abstract, and I'm positive that he's some sort of feeler, but I can't tell E or I. Although the lyrics seem Fi, so maybe ISFP?

Oh yeah, he is definately an introverted feeler, but I suppose the defining mark is if his songs focus on concrete or abstract types of expressions of feeling? His more political songs appeal to me the most, he seems to see things as they truly are.

"Pretender" seems to cut right to the heart of the vacuousness of daily life in modern commercial culture.

:) thanks to you both for coming to post in my thread. :)

Heart you are scaring me a little. ;)

I was having a rough morning this past Monday and this song came on. :party2:

No idea what type he is but he's known to be rough with women. INFP?

I say that he's more concrete than abstract. I'll compare a couple of verses of his song "For America" to one that I think is a good example of abstract.

Here's the abstract one:

"Like a swallow.
There's no risk.
I'll whisk them up in no moonlight.
And though pigs can fly,
They'll never find us
Posing as the night,
And I'm home before the morning."

In Malta, catch a swallow,
For all of the guilty--to set them free.
Wings fill the window,
And they beat and bleed.

And here are two verses from "For America" that you posted (I'll post this again for sake of immediate comparison):

As if freedom was a question of might
As if loyalty was black and white
You hear people say it all the time-
My country wrong or right
I want to know what that's got to do
With what it takes to find out whats true
With everyone from the president on down
Trying to keep it from you

The thing I wonder about the dads and moms
Who send their sons to the vietnams
Will they really think their way of life
Has been protected as the next war comes?
I have prayed for america
I was made for america
Her shining dream plays in my mind
By the rockets red glare
A generations blank stare
We better wake her up this time

I will say that "The Pretender" seems a lot more abstract than "For America", though. Of course, I may just be confusing abstract with "opaque". I still say ISFP.
