The problem is that Ted gives conflicting stories. he was never honest, he just made crap up based on his feelings of the moment. The night before his execution, he decided he would credit pornography with making him a killer in the Dobson documentary, which Dobson of course ate up (since it gave him fodder for his Focus on the Family material). I'm not sure he even knew what was true.
I've just posted a link to that very interview. In it, Bundy says that he is not a victim of pornography and denies that it made him do anything.

I watched it 15 years ago and that's not how it came out when I saw it.... I mean, it's so long ago I no longer remember details, but that's not how Dobson was using it.

Regardless, there are many conflicts in the accounts of what Ted said if you scan the material. he told people one thing about his earlier childhood, and then there's other information that comes out later.

Maybe Dobson has his own agenda, as you said.

Fixed. Dobson definitely has an agenda, I'm just not sure how much he twisted Bundy's words in this regard.

This becomes apparent at about 17:45 in the interview.

Don't know what your point is, Mal. I think it's pretty obvious that psychopaths, etc., have been subjected to sever abuse in some form (or multiple forms) in their childhood.

You will not convince me otherwise, no matter how many people say there was no discernible abuse in their past, etc. Abuse is oftentimes kept very secret, and it's shrouded in shame.

Ah yes, the argument from ignorance.

Not ignorance. I am an expert in childhood biopsychosocial development actually, and attachment parenting methods and outcomes. I am an avid observer of human nature and am sensitive and interested in the effects of nature versus nurture upon individuals. Doctors may have their studies, but I know children. And I know children don't behave like that without some serious deprivations and depravations.

Seriously, congratulations on knowing things, but that doesn't make you qualified to know everything. Sometimes, things have nothing to do with childhood abuse. Sometimes, people say it didn't happen because it actually did not happen. Some brains are simply different and nothing, including abuse, is required to cause a bent towards severe criminality in adulthood. They just like it and prefer it.

    Bullshit. That is all.

Seriously. No one's brain is hardwired to be a psychopath. It's all about abuse and lack of nurturing. You don't have to take my word for it. Neurodevelopmental psychologists have known this for a long time. It's just not filtered out into 'mainstream' society yet evidently. I have no idea why everyone is so obtuse about it.

And do you understand how much delving must go into researching someone's past when they are 30? That is not only a LONG time ago, but families keep secrets, especially about abuse. Not to mention the high liklihood of dissociative disorders in these perps which can be accompanied by a lifetime of amnesia.

In short, it's hard to uncover the truth of it all. And so far, it seems that psychology, as a group, hasn't cared to very much.
