I doubt it. ESTPs can certainly be intelligent, capable leaders, but we're talking about one of the most brilliant military strategists the world has ever seen. I have my doubts he could have been anything other than an NTJ of some sort.

I think that's quite a folly to state that brilliant military strategists =/= ESTP. Good chance that Patton and Rommel were both STPs.
Alexander is described as "reckless", "impulsive", with a "fiery temperament" and generally charismatic. None of that is usually indicative of an INTJ. If he was an NT, he would be ENTP.

I also think there is a good chance Machiavelli was ENTP. He had this Voltaireish troll vibe about him. Even if you look at the paintings of him, he always has this shit eating smirk that ENTPs tend to sport.

Sun Tzu sounds INTJ to me. Don't really know that much about Atilla.

Pretty damn certain about Stalin being an ESTJ. The man was originally put in charge of logistics by Lenin, which he excelled in (like most SJs do), and which tends to be the weakest spot for NTs. He also had a very SJ approach to solving problems - by going through everything with a very fine comb, as opposed to implementing novel/abstract solutions. Also, this being circumstantial evidence but still... Saddam Hussein admired Stalin very much, which makes sense - them being of the same type and all. And that 'stache! STJs love 'staches.

I don't doubt ESTP's ability to be brilliant military strategists, but one of the best military strategists in history? I do doubt that, though it's not impossible. ENTP sounds like a strong possibility though. he did have a sort of Peter the Great vibe to him (I'm adding him to the list)
