I've never really listened to SOAD, and I don't wish to these days. I don't even listen to Metallica anymore. I prefer the positive and more relevant messages of Christian music.

Anyway, I read something that described in non-MBTI terminology that the most creative people are NPs. I concluded Mike Patton is an ENFP, and he certainly wrote a lot of random, creative, unusual stuff in his various bands (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas). Just a guess, but Les Claypool of Primus is probably one of the NPs.

I'm tempted to say IN_Js are more creative than N_Ps. I usually correlate cleverness with Ne, and Ni more to being seemingly completely off the wall. Whichever you favor as creative.

Primus seems like a major N_P band yeah. Probably NTP with all those unusual rhythm and time changes.

I was speaking more in terms of precise picking and things like that.

Listen to the older metallica. It's ridiculous how fast and flawless every note is.

How much of that is Mustaine though? I don't know for sure who played all the parts on what records, but I've always associated Hetfield's playing with a brutal, rhythmic physicality and Mustaine's (later Hammet's) with the kind of fleet-fingered precision you describe. That's got to have something to do with type.

I was talking about Hetfield.

Mustaine seems INTJ to me but I've not seen a great deal of him in interviews and stuff. Maybe ENTJ. His lyrics are far more intuitive than logical, but so are lots of band's.

And it doesn't necessarily have to have something to do with type. Suppose their parents made them take lessons with a professional trainer for hours a day.
