Who would be a classic example of an INTJ?

Someone that pretty much everyone would know thoroughly.

^ I don't think the average person really knows much about his personality. Most just know his contributions. Besides isn't he an INTP?

Apparently so..
He was said to lack social grace .. had to be forced to bathe and he liked to throw food at his wife..

Dr Manhattan (The Watchmen) is the prototypical INTJ.. but he is fictitious so that doesn't really count.

I thought Dr. Manhattan was also considered a pretty prototypical INTP.

I am not sure how someone who can see the past future and present at the same time could be anything but a J.. what options can this person leave open??

I dunno... the fact that he didn't care to conquer the world, and just ran off to mars to chill out on his own and do nothing but think, seems like a P thing.

And yet he himself said how pointless it all was since he knew the outcome of everything already and that he is a slave to fate.. In the comic he says he has no choice but to follow through with things because in one sense they have already happened.

SO if not him as an INTJ .. then who??.. I am as curious as the OP at this point:huh:

Isaac Newton is often quoted as an INTJ, if that helps.

Oh, and I think one of the most interesting fictional contrasts of healthy INTJ to psychotic INTJ would be Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter.

How bout Hannibal of Carthage?

He's who I think of most, when I think of real-life INTJs...

Einstein = ENTP, Dr. Manhattan = INTP, Snape = INTP IMO.

I would say Abraham Lincoln or Benjamin Franklin maybe for a famous INTJ.

These are great examples. I've never actually heard Ayn Rand talk but you can get an idea by reading her books.

I also think about Arnold Schwarzenegger, Alan Greenspan, and Richard Nixon.

Franklin was extrovert. And don't put much stock in all his maxiums to type him, some think he might have ripped those off someone else and keep in mind who he was catering to in his Alamck. He seems to just ooze tert Fe to me.

I've seen Linclon listed as INFP...but Lincoln is complex case. He suffered from depression and took mercury pills. Did Mercury in "Little Blue Pills" Make Abraham Lincoln Erratic?
