The Western Gunman: ISFJ, (Any of John Wayne's Roles)
-Usually features a strong, silent older man who either wanders from place to place or is seen as an outcast within their present town. Said outcast is in truth a highly skilled gunman with strong, conservative morals and honorary practices, often stated at the end, either concretely or subtlety to be the final reference to a past era of honorable men. This type tends to be paralleled in samurai flicks though the F may be swapped with a T

Naw, that's definitely more ISTJ than ISFJ.

I see the difference between male ISTJ and ISFJ roles as the difference between the characters usually played by Steve McQueen and those played by John Wayne.

some common movie strieotypes

ENFP: The goofy, idealistic guy who seems competent but has low confidence and just can't seem to catch a break, descovers hidden talents in the end (think jim carry)

ESTJ: the anal retentive workaholic who we eventualy learn cairs about friends and family but shows it through actions rather than words (usualy the older brother, the boss, the army cornal ect not often the protagonest)
or
the over achiever who nobody can possably live up to

ESTP: the bullie, enough said

infp: seems to be a huge number of left wing politions, (think lisa simpson)

ENTJ: The shallow corpret guy, the roge general/CIA operative, consaltant, usualy an antagonist with mysterous motives and unshakable confidence, often uses the other characters to achieve these ends much like the INTJ but more the prick than the sinster mastermind

ESFJ - dude that cries in movies?
Nooooo....
ESFJ is the overbearing, caring mom. Think of Molly Weasley.

ENFP - the flighty seductress.

ESTJ - the tough soldier who doesn't understand about magic. Think Boromir.

Great minds think alike :newwink:
I've got a great deal of inspiration for my last novel here: How to write a best selling fantasy novel.
(I created a fantasy novel where everything went wrong - the big strong guy is smart, the chosen one dies,...)

INFJ - the ArchVillain who's always plotting, obsessing with symbols and with the main character...
INFP - the wizard guide or mentor, trying to get the hero to find his "inner strength" - which is *always* love. Maybe INTP if he analyses how the magic laws of love work.

I strongly suspect the whole fantasy genre to be NF. If even the laws of nature (ie magic) respond to emotions...

ok this list seems to hold true for 99% of epic tails out there
hero: infp or isfp (strong Fi) usual an incompetent with strong ideals who must find inner strength to save the day.

good wizard: infj helps hero fing inner strength, a good motervator not alwas a great sorcorer

bad wizard: intj, a far superior sorcorer who has a bad history with the infj. often the most intellegent and powerfull charicter in the story, too bad he's evil

good king: estj, stands for all that is good and true in the land. uses out dated methods of warfare to protect his kingdom and has no time for wisards or the incompenent hero.

bad king/warlord/emporer: entj, an expert stragist wants to dominate all forms of life, often understands magic (funny us ntjs always seem to be evil with no apparent reason)

motly crew: made up from a mixture of, xstp the gruff, no noncence warrior who would be much better suted to the task than the hero,
xstj the skilled and cultured fighter who seems to be more mature than the rese, may understand magic and would also be better suted to the task than the hero often the hero's mentor
esfj: the best friend who holds the hero's hand throughout the ordeal, may as compleat the quest instead of the hero

rouge: entp, the skilled, cleaver and most of all mystoryous hunter/rouge/animal we meet somwhere on the journy, we never know where there loyaltys lie. usualy the comic releaf.

guide: intp, screwed up oddball who for some reason is the only person/creacher who knows the way to the sacrad item/evil lair we must answer his riddels before he will help us. common occupations include bridge keeper, wise woman, reving lunitic

town drunk: a comic relife character usualy entp, enfj, esfp or enfp who has an execellent phlosphy that life is for partying, drinking and jus plain having fun, cant understand the importance of finding the mystical pebble of doom, and makes us wish the movie was about them. joins the motly crew but looses interest half way through the quest and returns to the bar. (also usualy more competent than the hero).

victum: a group of innocent yey incredably boaring towns people namily s-js slaughtered needlessly by the evil xntj and his xstp hoards

mindless hoards: a mix of istps and estps. hobbys include rape, pilliging, killing villagers, biting, and mindlessly surving their master.

henchmen: made up of istjs and estjs. more intellegent than the hords they are the administrators, officals, techintions piolets they often work at at the evil lair and help ready the troops and implement plans. still mindless servents but thrugh fear or apathetic greed rather than bloodlust.

generals/good and bad: most often estj will win the final battle at all costs however this is usualy pointless as by some freak coincidence the hero fullfills his quest and destorys the enemy just as the good guys are about to loose.

Someone's gotta do it, IndyAnna. What a boring world it would be with Damsel-free train tracks.

EVERY VILLAIN EVER: Either INTJ, ENTJ, or ENTP. God, such discrimination. It's kind of ridiculous when one thinks about it.
One exception: Miror B. from Pokemon Colosseum, if it's ok to use an example like that. Based on his villainy and style over the course of the game, I would call him an ESFP.
The child protagonist: INFP, ISFP, or ISFJ. Kinda depends on the age and gender.
The bully: ESTJ or ENTJ. Nothing gets in a scrawny IxFx kid's face like that.
The nerd: INTP or ENTP. Maybe that doesn't even count as a stereotype.
This should not be confused with The suck-up kid: ISTJ or ESTJ.
The (adult) girlfriend: ESFJ. Always has to guilt trip the protagonist. It gets sickening after a while.
The mysterious sage/stoner: INTP or INFJ. Depends on their motives. Either way, these characters are portrayed as very, very smart.

INFP in horror movies. Otherwise known as chiller filler. First to cry, first to die. Probably killed while looking at the creepy house and pondering who lives there. Friends wonder where he/she is then joke you know how spacey (insert name) is! Laugh and then set about making out or going to play a prank on the others. Stumbles on INFPs mangled corpse.
