INTP - Donnie Darko (If this isn't INTP, what is?)

It's more INxP, although the futility level and the wonderful deconstruction of smurf sexual habits definitely bump it into taboo areas INFPs sometimes fear to tread. ;)

It's definitely more an N movie than a T movie, if you get my drift, though... and the director's vision is more accessible through N than T -- there are places that can be hard to follow or cannot be articulated well.

The Matrix is far more INTP, in terms of mixing T supported by N, and the movie can be articulated much more clearly in terms of what the main concepts are and what's going on.

I can definitely see Matrix as INTP. No dispute there. But also, I think, for me anyway, N is the spark that lights the T fire. Not only just supports T but inspires it!

There's a lot of times that I can't articulate anything because my mind is moving so fast and jumping from place to place. I know where my train of thought is going but at the same time if someone asked me to explain I become Porky Pig for a second "abadee, abadee" I need time to consolidate those ideas and if I don't have enough time to consolidate those ideas I cannot explain the connections and yet...they make sense!

Hmm...you could say that The Matrix is INTP after N goes through T and gets verbalized but Donnie Darko is the hidden part of INTP...that initial scramble of an inspiration of ideas that hasn't quite been honed through T yet...and yet, it makes sense but in an ineffable way. Which might be what you said. So after all this. Yeah, good point!! lol.....omg! I just blew my own mind!

No way, ESFP for sure, one of my closest friends is an ESFJ and she hated it while some of my ESFP friends loved it O___O

Harry Potter....ISFP?

I think Harry Potter himself is an INTP. The I part is visible in the first part. The N comes about around the mirror of Erised with a sudden aha, now I know what to do. The T is all around. The P is because he's not attentive in classes he dislikes. The series is more INFP, because an INTP series would have had a more pessimistic ending.

I'm glad you listed a comedy. Monty Python is a good one! ...not all INTP movies are geeky or sci-fi related but it's so easy to go there.

I personally view Harry Potter as an ISFP, he doesn't think clearly at all let alone rationally, he constantly acts before he thinks, what kind of INTP would do that? The whole story I think is based on Harry's Fi/Se combination, Fi provides Harry with the motivation to act and Se makes him actually act.

Has anyone claimed The Fountain, because I'm calling it for INTJ. It's either that or Children of Men because I could do without being associated with 2001.

Zombie Strippers! is also a possibility.

Actually, no, there's a measure of irony in trading one space opera for another, The Fountain goes to some other Ni user group. Zombie Strippers! all the way!

Ferris Bueller's Day Off - a very interesting case, because Ferris (quintessentially ENTP) is not the main character of the story, though it is for a most part an ENTP movie because of his influence, which is impulsive, strangely logical, gregarious, and content to play the system, not try to overthrow it. His day doesn't have a plan to it whatsoever - he's content to let his intuition run wild and do whatever seems right.

Cameron, on the other hand, is the protagonist, as the story is the arc of his change. As he emerges from the depths of his hypercritical and pessimistic shadow, indicated visually through his sickness that disappears over the course of the film, that is mostly emergent from his lack of support at home, his Se and Fi assert themselves, reasoning that he will damage his father's car because it's wrong that his father cares more about it than him, and he finally reconciles himself, an ISFJ. It was through the positive expression of Cameron's doldrums by Ferris that Cameron began to see how different he was from those ways of thinking, while still appreciating them for what they were, as he began to assert himself again.

It's a movie with a shiny ENTP wrapper, but the heart, soul and depth of it is pure ISFJ.

Movies by Type

Let me know of a movie that characterizes each type. I would like to finish the list. So far, I have The Shape of Things for ENTP's, Patch Adams - Robin Williams for ENFP's, The Neverending Story -Sebastian for INFP's, Jerry McGuire- Renée Zellweger for ISFJ's, A Beautiful Mind -John Nash for INTJ's, and Big Fish -Ed Bloom Senior for ESFP's. Can anyone help me fill in the holes with movies that convey that type well?

ENFP
zany charm, storytellers, lots of PDA, silly switch, hasty, neglects old friends for new ones, doesn't follow through
(Patch Adams - Robin Williams)

INFP
childlike wonder, sees good in all, translate technical jargon into layman's terms, imaginary friends, wants ethical perfection, laziest of all the types
(The Neverending Story -Sebastian)

ENFJ
teachers, pedagogues of humanity, make dreams come true, love others with actions, manipulative power, answer every interruption, martyr mentality

INFJ
poetic justice, prophetic, counselor, inner vision, detached sardonic eye when thinking, 'SP' wannabe, stuck in dream world

ESTJ
supervisors, rule enforcers, offers and accepts service from others and to others, tough, humorous, joiners, regulate what's normal, hates laziness

ISTJ
inspectors, devoted to duty, punctual, tough, emotion=energy loss, tactless, upset if you violate time honored traditions

ESFJ
rescuer, mothering, caretakers, protectors, liberal gift givers, enjoy being in charge, hyper vigilant, stern then unexpectedly merciful, vexed when bad situations happen to them, hard time letting go after a breakup or death of a lover
(Spiderman 1&2- Kirsten Dunst)

ISFJ
loyal, give more than they take, would leave if person they are loyal to got fired, family oriented, doormats, possessive, can't delegate, low profile, very conventional
(Jerry McGuire- Renée Zellweger)

ENTP
clever, bond suddenly, sense of humor, tackle challenges, love to argue and play devil's advocate, not patient with dumb people
(The Shape of Things)

INTP
precise, loves complex systems, logical, detailed, corrects others especially with grammer, second guesses themselves, afraid of failure

ENTJ
the general in a war, decisive delegators, charming, great salesmen, icy gaze, argumentative, insensitive, melodramatic

INTJ
self confident, pragmatic, system builders, direct, work hard at their relationships, appear arrogant, perfectionists, anti-authority, intuition is so strong and good at determining needs and wants that feeling is not needed, awkward in love relationships
(A Beautiful Mind -John Nash)

ESTP
thrill seekers, competitive, conquerers, constant activity companions, impulsive, classic 'SP' rage, admission of weakness means failure, tough emotionally

ISTP
performers, masters of the one liner, humorous, usually vocational hobbies like mechanics, thick skinned, classic 'SP' rage, anti-authority, rigid, inflexible, need personal space, dormant then active in a frenzy for what seems like no reason

ESFP
entertainers, party animals, storytellers, witty, classic 'SP' rage, spiderweb talk that is confusing like an old man with Alzheimer's, new replaces the old, constant activity companions, too talkative, usually dumb
(Big Fish -Ed Bloom Senior)

ISFP
trendsetters, hit and run compliments, charming, takes risks, lives out their dreams, classic 'SP' rage, will cut and run if feels dead inside, detached, aloof, conceals feelings, hates school but smart when it comes to experiential learning

Great list.

Road to Perdition is an outstanding movie for ISTJ (Tom Hanks).

Casino Royale (Daniel Craig) or Gran Torino (Clint Eastwood) for ISTP.
