gandhi and MLK

gandhi is supposedly an ENFP and MLK is supposedly an INFJ

I've never heard anyone suggest anything but INFJ for Gandhi, and I think they're absolutely right.

I don't actually admire or look up to anyone. I have a view of myself to just succeed, but come to think of it, I don't really look up to any one person in particular because I find when I try to do that, I tend to somehow imitate them, and that's just not what I want.

Yeah I think the whole roll-models thing is just for kids, when they're growin up.

I admire many people, it doesn't take much, but if I had to choose one who really sticks out, I'd pick Steve Pavlina. I'm not into hero worship or anything, he's just a man. But he's done a lot of things I'd like to do, and he has a lot of traits that I'd like to have for myself. Most people think he's nuts - and I can understand why, but I also relate to him for that. To me, he seems very courageous, honest, original, and open. I don't always agree with him, but I do think I understand him, and I trust him. It's not often I trust someone I don't know, but I do because of the way he writes. It seems like I know him. The benefit of that is that it's hard to dismiss what he says. I actually think about it.

He said once that he tested as an INTJ when he was younger but now tests and seems more like an ENTJ. (I'm pretty sure he was born an introvert, he just constantly challenges every part of himself and discovers new ways of being.)

Wow---that guy has a lot of interesting ideas. And, yeah---he seems very open and honest.

I will look into him more. Thanks. :)

If Anyone than my father - INTJ.
Or Einstein - INTP.

I do not have a role model though.

I admire Jesus Christ, whether he really existed or not.

What he allegedly said and did is my idea of ultimate perfection.

I've never known or heard of anyone else who embodied such ethical consistency.

MBTI Type: Impossible to tell. Maybe all types.

If he truly is the Son of God, probably transcends type altogether.

Myself - INTP

Everyone has their own ambitions and I have mine. I live on my own inertia, not the vision of someone else. While other people certainly are admirable and I certainly do admire a few of them, I cannot see any of them beating me on my personal list.

The logic is sound and it is a keen concept only a few people value. But c'mon, everyone loves porn stars, I mean they are like gods to any modern thinking man :D

Jesus is the only one who deserves it fully, so he's on top. I'd say he's XXXX, perfect MBTI balance.

I also admire Joan of Arc (INFP).
Martin Luther is another, but I don't know his type. Do you?

There are a lot of other role models in my life, but you wouldn't know them if I named them (personal acquaintances and friends). I find them to be generally Introverts, but they vary for the rest.

I admire a professor I had a couple years ago for his teaching style / philosophy. I have incorporated some of his tactics into my own teaching style. I don't know his type, but I'd guess ENTJ.

Right now I would say Hillary Clinton. She battled through the campaign like warrior even as seemingly everyone wanted her to quit, including me.

Turns out I was wrong. She just knows how to fight. In retrospect it makes her resolve to the fight to the last minute all the more impressive.

I'm not sure I really admire Einstein. More fascinated him and the phenomenon surround him. I hold the same fascination with many other notable current and historical figures. Does that answer your question? I know that's why you started the thread. It's not going to work. You will not guilt me out of INTP.

Personally I think this whole thing is a bit ridiculous.

I don't see how you can say that Jesus's MBTI preferences would be balanced. From a simple reading of scripture it seems fairly clear that Jesus was an introverted intuitive, and nowhere close to being an extroverted sensor. His commandment to love one another seems rather Fe, and being the Logos incarnate pretty much requires strong Ti. He was probably an INFJ, or possibly a very mature INTP.

The parking lot owner in the center of my town. He sits in a little house all day long and plays world of warcraft, cashing in occasional fees from people parking there ( but only until 9 am in the morning, then all 75 parking lots are full with 6,50 € each for a day ticket; thats a net gain of almost 500 € per day). And then in the evening, after he has leveled his rogue to 80, he goes 5 steps out his little house in his real house next to the parking lot ( which has a pool and a sauna they say: the real house I mean ) to have a nice beer at work day end.

Ah but wait you said admire not envy right ? ... :D

OK......

I'm sorry for laughing at you, but this has got to be the most ridiculous statement I have ever come across on TypoC (and that's REALLY saying a lot ;) )

I sometimes toss out ideas on the fly and then realize later how ridiculous they were, so I understand, really. I'm not judging you.

But if, in retrospect, you still think your statement makes sense, PLEASE explain it to me.

LOL :D

If I can only choose one:

1. Amelia Earhart - ISTP; Reason: Pure Grit & Drive

Or if I could choose a few more:

2. Richard Feynman - ENTP; Reason: Deep Curiosity & Imagination

"What I cannot create, I do not understand."

"So, ultimately, in order to understand nature it may be necessary to have a deeper understanding of mathematical relationships. But the real reason is that the subject is enjoyable, and although we humans cut nature up in different ways, and we have different courses in different departments, such compartmentalization is really artificial, and we should take our intellectual pleasures where we find them."

"You can know the name of a bird in all the languages of the world, but when you're finished, you'll know absolutely nothing whatever about the bird... So let's look at the bird and see what it's doing -- that's what counts. I learned very early the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing something."

-Richard Feynman

3. Gregory Peck - INTP; Reason: Integrity (and :wubbie:)
4. Katharine Hepburn - ISTP; Reason: Decisive, Frank & Bold

5. Bruce Lee - ISTP; Reason: The Embodiment of Efficiency & Self-Mastery

  • How can I not respect someone who said this?
"I remember once Bruce and I were walking along the beach in Santa Monica, out by where the 'Dungeon' (an old-time bodybuilding gym) used to be," recalls Inosanto, "when all of a sudden this big, huge bodybuilder came walking out of the Dungeon and I said to Bruce, 'Man, look at the arms on that guy!' I'll never forget Bruce's reaction, he said 'Yeah, he's big -- but is he powerful? Can he use that extra muscle efficiently?" -- Dan Inosanto

----------------------------

*Note: These qualities are general enough to be applied to other people, though the reason why I admire them is due to their particular brand and mixture of character traits. It's what makes them into captivating and inspirational personas for me.

Then there are loads of individuals, both in history and living today, whom I believe are wicked awesome, but not necessarily in an "I admire you" way.

Admire. I admire myself for being such the bum.

Seriously, I'm not one for idols or role models so I gotta say I have no answer.
