I'm not sure about Kerouac as an INFP...

I would've gussed ISFJ.

I'll add William Gaddis - INTP.

I'm not sure about Faulkner, but I would say INTJ with a strong Fi.

ADDS: William Gaddis (INTP)

However the jury is still out on Faulkner as I've heard a number of views both for INFJ and INTJ.

What about Gore Vidal? I asked about him a few times, but nobody gave an answer.

If playwrights count, then Gabriel Marcel is INFJ.

And I'm sorry I don't know much about Vidal, although he's Intuitive.

I believe Hans Christian Anderson was INFP. That's how I often see him classified as.

I'm still trying to figure out Taras Shevchenko. He definately was a NF, probably NFP.

I won't pretend to be good at this, but I had personally typed J. K. Rowling as an INFJ (with little evidence to support it.) I was, however, quite convinced that J. R. R. Tolkien was an SJ, introverted of course. He was a hobbit in real life.

*Puts Neil Gaiman back to INFP after a while in INFx limbo.*

I've also decided eventually that Tolkein is INFP, and Sylvia Plath as ISFJ.

I read part of a biography of Tolkien, and he talked all the time about tradition and how much he hated everything changing. Also, find me an N who would be willing to take up 2/3 of their page space with topography.

It seems futile to attempt to type Tolkein. He's definetely an I. I am coming around to his being an S now.

It’s ridiculous to type Tolkein an S because he was geeky about making detailed maps of his fantasy worlds. That’s like automatically typing a D&D geek an S.

Yeah I still think INFP personally, although I don't know an awful lot about his biography.
