Same idea as the celebrity type list really. http://www.typologycentral.com/forums/popular-culture-type/12424-dn-s-celebrity-type-list-ii.html

The definition of author being, it being the thing that catapulted them to fame or what they are best known for. Authors of fiction only please, ergo Literature.

Is Wilde predominantly known as an Author? If so I say ENTP.

I see Oscar Wilde as a playwright mostly, does that count?
I don't really have any idea how to type authors, but I'd like to see Vonnegut on the list. INTP?? I think also Dostoyevsky is usually typed as INFJ.
I think Virginia Woolf is introverted, but bipolar. I would guess Palahniuk is a P, but I'm not sure about INT. I might even guess INFP because he is so f-cked up.

Playwrights are fair game for this list, so I will add him.

Will add Dostoyevsky too.

Will add Woolf to INFP

I'm not sure I see Palahniuk as INFP.

I'm not familiar with Vonnegut. I'd need back-up from someone else on that. All the listed types come from MBTI sites and threads here, so they are all kinda backed-up. He could well be INTP.

Ok yea, Vonnegut is just a guess so I really don't know.

I also don't have much for my reasons for Palahniuk, I think it was just from reading Invisible Monsters that confused me with F/T.
And this from a biography
He also began volunteering at a homeless shelter, then as a escort for a hospice where he transported terminally ill patients to their support meetings. He stopped volunteering after a patient with whom he had developed a friendship died.
which might not mean anything. I would still go for P though, just because he doesn't seem to have much structure/planning. I think he makes it up as he goes along.

I can't say I've read any of his works, but apparently George Bernard Shaw was ENTJ.

Thomas Hardy is apparently an SJ.

How about Michael Crichton? I'd think INTJ because of his thick research process and science in his books, yet he seemed to present interesting viewpoints and themes and relationships well, which to me suggests a strong Ne.

GK Chesterton - INFJ
Charles Peguy - INFJ
Hilaire Belloc - ENTP
Leon Bloy - INFP

I'm still debating Georges Bernanos - possibly XNFP.

Care to explain? Interesting how the Catholic church is so important to all of these men.

I can't help but feel like William Blake was P based on reading about his life, not his works. His works seem more Ni, but if he were INFP, they could be based on strong balance between Fi/Ne? Then again I could be really wrong there!

If she wasn't already mentioned:

Anaïs Nin ISFP

I see her typed as INFP, but to me she's definately writing in a Fi/Se style.

It's a real possiblity. I'll change him to "INFx".

^ Emanuel Swedenborg, said to be one of Blake's mentors definately seems INFJ, if I recall correctly Blake broke with Swedenborg on a lot of his dogma.

Does L Ron Hubbard count? His writings were pretty prolific. Either way, I hear that he's an ENFP.
