Yeah, it looks like he was right about linguistics.

But the problem for me is that he looks like he is right about everything else.

And who knows, maybe he is.

Or am I just paranoid?

He's an uncompromising perfectionist stuck in the real world, so has nothing to admire, only complaints.

Yeah, it does look like it, doesn't it?

I attended a lecture of his and it was packed out. And we loved him. He held us in the palm of his hand.

And afterwards we felt uplifted and as though we had been let into the true meaning of life. It was outstandingly seductive. And I was certainly seduced.

But I couldn't get enough of him - he is very moor-ish. Perhaps Chomsky is like peanuts - once you start, you can't stop.

I really don't know what to make of him.

He is obviously sincere. And your countrymen love sincerity above all else - even criticism.

But why do we love him as well?

Perhaps he is a saint - a secular saint.

Who knows?

I don't love him. As far as I can tell (I haven't read a great deal of his, one book and some articles iirc), he doesn't offer solutions.

This is true. But he is intoxicating. You might say he is the opium of the intelligentsia.

He is so mainstream though. He is like the June Cleever of the conspiracy theorists.

Who would've thunk that a close-minded creationist neo-conservative that married a man who wanted to secede from the USA and shoots animals from helicopters and doesn't know the names of any newspapers would at one point come to abusing her power? Did I mention that she believes the second coming of Jesus will occur during our lifetime?

Also, wasn't it a bipartison investigation that led to the conclusion?

He states his objective is to provide people (people without the time to spend 10 hours a day researching) what they need to make informed decisions. (paraphrased from memory.)

I don't think he's perfect; I don't htink he's always right. But I do think he's a guy living his values, he's a guy with tremendous intelligence, and besides all that he's got ridiculous hookups to people and experiences that the layman can't get.
