The threat of force is a far better weapon than the use of it. But in order for the threat of it to work, we must show that we are willing to use it.

You're confusing an economic system with a governance system. One ensures trade, the other ensures fair play... or that's the way it's supposed to work.

In practice, it often works out that one ensures as much theft as can be got away with, and the other makes sure that the thieves in authority get their fair share.

You can't devise a system that humans cannot figure out how to abuse.

If the world leaders can cooperate (during next few years) enough to make capitalism rise again, I'm sure they could also make it fair (because the cooperation means a set of rules for capitalism). It won't be fair, though. Any such move would be a political suicide.

The problem is both with democracy and capitalism.

The alternative to democracy in its various forms is an autocratic authority structure. The alternative to capitalism is, likewise, an autocratic command economy. Forgive me for pointing this out, but experiments with these ideas over the past hundred years or so haven't worked out so well.

No, I said earlier that I am for democracy and I am also for capitalism, but I think they need some tweaking. I started a new thread, since we are way out of topic here.

Greed Based Systems and Alternatives
