What's the hype?

Why on earth are everyone talking about Sarah Palin?
- She doesn't have anything new or intelligent to say in particular
- She is pretty dull. Wouldn't even make a good homemaker.
- Former beauty pageant winner. Doesn't make her more of an Einstein.

Yes, with about 50% probability she will be the next vice president. But still, I've known janitors who have made better impressions on me intellectually.

Then, I ask you, what's the hype? Why?

#2 is the hype. It's because we love hype. You know america has gone crazy when the VP debates become bread and circuses. I just know that several MBTIc members have prepared popcorn in expectation of Sarah Palin's show.

There really isn't that much hype. Ask the average person in America who Sarah Palin is and they would have no clue.

All of those things make interesting points of discussion for people, it's like if an Orangutan was a VP candidate, people would talk about it.

If you want to be at the top of the minds of the masses you don't have to be clever or talented or anything, just remarkable (as in being unusual or exceptional, and attracting attention because of this), which she is.

Really? The rest of the world doesn't seem to get a break from her. She's all over the newspapers, there are a few threads on the "new posts" list here on MBTIc that discuss Palin... Well! I find her annoying.

There's a few threads on MBTIc that discuss me too. Is there too much hype about me?

(granted it has been a while since I've been in the newspaper, but I was in there several times when I was in community theatre shows.)

I don't know why your media talks about her so much. That's something you should take up with them.

I only watch American news (thank whatever deity or deities of choice for cable), and it seems like Palin is mentioned on CNN or CNN headline at least 5 times a day.

If only I could get an American channel that would show FSU football... then I'd have it made.
