I'm not voting for either, mainly because I can't legally do so.

That's another bag of worms. Quite a few people seem concerned with who people in other countries want our president to be. I can't get the fall of Rome out of my head when I think about these people.

What a painful place to host it.

Sarkozy, our president, seems to be more popular in the US (if truly american cares about french politics) than in France... So, see, it's reverse.
This said, I actually understand what you mean. (Even though, I kinda like Obama too and not really Mc Cain who seems to be so mean!! But maybe im influenced by french news)

I think of it often too, but rather about in relationship to the entire western culture.

"He's extremely popular in France" is NOT something you want to tell many Americans about one of their politicians.

I'm voting for Obama for two basic reasons.

1) George W Bush has screwed things up bad. I want a Democrat to undo a lot of what Bush has done.

2) For a politician the most important talent is the ability to persuade people. Obama is clearly better than that, so I see him as a more effective leader.

Overall I don't see McCain as a bad president, but I think Obama will make a better one.

Right thing to say to make them vote for Mcain instead?

Look, we just elected a president who seems to be kinda popular in the US (whereas he is less and less in France). Policits can be really wierd sometimes.
