You don't even have to be a conspiracy theorist to appreciate the implications of that question. I constantly wonder if we are really living in a two party system or if the reality is that we are under that illusion and this is truly a one party system. Republcrat isn't even a new term. Politicians trade loyalties like they do cloths.

Does it make sense to answer these questions as a European? Conservative and progressive, let alone liberal, have a different meaning here, I think.

Broadly similar meaning, I believe.. although what *is* confusing is that red/blue are sort of reversed in the US in terms of Europe's view of left wing/right wing.

So, US Republican is Right Wing*, Red. In the UK, the Left Wing* Labour party is Red.

*The political ideology they traditionally espouse, not what they often appear!
